Food!

December 28, 2010 by J.B.

We are forever indebted to Chris, DeVar and the rest of the staff at our local Safeway supermarket. They have been supplying us with great produce since the day the chimps arrived in Cle Elum. Thanks to them, we rarely have to purchase fruits and vegetables for the chimps.

Last summer, our friends at Spud.com in Seattle took an interest in the Cle Elum Seven, and began sending car loads of organic produce our way.

Burrito really enjoys all of this great food. And we love watching him eat.

J.B., if it’s alright with you all, I’d like to send a thank you card to Safeway and I’ll email Spud.com a thank you. If it’s alright, if you could get me the address for Safeway and Chris and Devar’s last names, I’d appreciate it. I remember you all mentioning them from the very beginning.

That would be great, Candy. It’s Chris Pauley and DeVar Gleed at Safeway, 804 W 1st St, Cle Elum, WA 98922. Unfortunately, I don’t know the names of the other staff members, but they have all been supportive.

i concur w/a thank you note to both organizations. yeppers, that is a handsome, happy boy … and i love the way he is all ‘fluffed up’ like he just got out of the dryer when he comes out the door … so you know there’s been some ‘i’m the boy ape’ stuff going on. and like many of your regular posters, i could watch the chimpsters all day long …

Leslie, now that you mention it Mr. B. does look fluffy when he steps outside the door. Great idea for the green bean forage, by the way.

LOL – all that juicy smacking makes me want to go find a pear! 🙂

Yep – these sweet beings certainly move the heart. I’m glad they have so much support!!

Now you’ve made me go and try to decide on which of the videos of Mr. B is my favorite! I think probably this one now. Knowing that eating is his very, most favorite thing to do, makes it that much more exciting to watch.

I agree with Anna…………………….listening to him smack on that fruit makes me sad that I only have bananas in my kitchen right now! Might have to go grocery shopping tomorrow and pick up some pears myself!

Thanks for the great video JB!! That new camera takes an awesome picture. Crystal clear!

Linda, my favorite video is from Burrito’s last birthday party, when he drank that lemonade and you could see the expression on his face the moment that tartness hit his taste buds, priceless! Maybe for a year end poll we could list our favorite videos.

You read our minds, Candy – keep an eye out for a blog post on this topic in the next week or so 🙂

Candy, that’s my favorite video! Burrito getting a treat every few hours and loving it. I have watched that video about 50 times…LOL! I love it when Diana asks which cracker with hummus he wants and then rethinks and asks “all of them?” I can’t imagine how he survived on just monkey chow for so many years. I love watching our boy eat. He enjoys his food to the fullest and I love hearing him smack!

Your videos always make my day. I love watching these guys take enjoyment from the simplest pleasures. Thanks for keeping us posted.

I love the way Burrito’s ears move when he chews. He puts his whole self into it.

Yes, that ear wiggle at the end is a perfect way to end that video.
