Burrito eating a pear

Adorable Burrito and NEW STUFF

December 27, 2010 by Diana

First, adorable Burrito – a photo taken tonight at dinner with our fab new camera:

Now for the new stuff! I was away for a few days to spend the x-mas holiday with family, and when I returned, the chimp house had been transformed! Thanks to everyone who got us the new stuff off of our amazon.com wishlist!!

J.B. picked me up at the airport in Seattle yesterday and we went to a store to purchase the new computer. After consulting everyone who had donated towards our new and improved technology (Candy Crannell, Kathy B., Gayle, Leslie, Barb in Ohio, Theresa, Catherine M., Jeani, Pam and Sue), we decided to go with a desktop. It was less expensive than the laptops, and we managed to get an even better deal on it at the store. So, we also purchased a much needed printer (ours broke about a week ago) and a large memory card for our new camera. Check out the snazzy looking office space in the chimp house now! Photos and videos look AMAZING on that big screen and the printer works like a champ.

Here are the other great gifts we received from generous supporters that have improved our days in the chimp house. We so appreciate your support and your response to my Holiday Wishes post about the things we needed.

Boot dryer for Jamie’s collection of boots:

Stainless steel bowls for produce:

Ergonomic kitchen mat for volunteers and staff working at the sink:

Coffee maker for volunteers and staff. A welcome return to caffeine!

New foot bath mat – no more tripping over the old pan and bleaching our pants.

Much needed hand-soap. Isn’t this a nice, artistic shot? It was also taken with our new camera.

We also received new memory cards for the cameras, which helped us to post this. And new blankets for the chimps (my favorite is a chili pepper blanket). And some awesome crayons for the chimps.

Wow, huh? We are pretty lucky to have such generous and thoughtful Santas among our supporters. We’re off to a great New Year already!

You all deserve these things and much more!! What a great Christmas for CSNW. I’m so honored to even be a part of this amazing sanctuary!!

Of course I’m over-excited with the great new closeup pics of Mr. B. That’s my boy!!

A few more days and we’ll be able to start our 2011 count-down to Young’s Hill!! I can hardly contain my excitement now!! I’ll be a mess by the time it actually gets here!! 🙂

2011 will be a year of wonderment and joy for a lot of people and those amazing chimps!!!!

I love the big monitor you bought, looks great and so does that printer. You all received great gifts, how loved you all are.

Diana, you all have taken so many great photos over the last few months. I hope you’ll have time to submit some of them to the “My Shot for the National Geographic Magazine”. Here’s the link: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/myshot/gallery/221597#/gallery/667442/

Can you all explain about the mention of the new foot bath mat and mentioned tripping over the pan, is used it to disinfect your shoes?

Mr. B’s looking very youthful and happy these days. Any special requests for his birthday party?

Cindy, there was a dish pan we used as a foot bath. Being the clutz of the caregivers I tripped on that dish pan every time and of course I always had a arm full of enrichment or blankets. The new foot bath mat is so much easier and there will be no more tripping. The sanctuary is very concerned with the health of the chimps so every time we walk from the kitchen into the chimp area or back into the kitchen we step into the foot bath to disinfect our shoes.

Thanks Denice, that’s what I thought it was, I saw them do that on the t.v. series, Chimp Eden.

Oh my gosh, so much cool new stuff, I can’t wait ’til I can get back up there! As someone who spends most of my time there standing at the sink and dealing with produce, thank you SO MUCH for the mat and the cool new stainless steel bowls! AWESOME!

Great computer! I’m so glad you got a good one and a printer too! I love the CSNW family! We are more than happy to pitch together to get you what you need. In return, we get to see lovely pictures and videos of our friends. I can’t tell you how much those mean to me. Making those chimps happy and helping to give them a happy life is worth every penny!
