Jody has a few new fans who have pointed out that she is not as represented in our blog posts as some of the other chimpanzees. I think there are a few reasons for that. She is not interested in as much attention from humans as Jamie or Foxie (for example). Jody gives us very enthusiastic greetings and then goes on her way to do her own thing. Sometimes she doesn’t like to have her photo taken (when she’s unhappy with something, she spits huge mouthfuls of water at us in a very deliberate way :). And often she’s relaxing in a part of the building that’s not easy to photograph. In any case, below are a few photos of Jody that we have not shared before.
We shared a couple of photos of Jody photos in a recent e-newsletter to show how dramatically the chimpanzees have changed in their physical appearance. Below is another photo of Jody taken the first day the chimpanzees were at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. The below photo really gets to me. She was so happy to have these blankets to nest with, and she made the smallest circle around her. She looks so fragile. I don’t think she realized how much bigger her life had become. Thank you to all of Jody’s Pals!

in the last one indeed she looks so fragile and unsure with her perfect little nest around her.. very sad picture..what a sweetie.
in the fifth photo – she looks like she is cleaning the floor!

Here comes the tears,no words can express how grateful I am that these chimps are no longer in a research lab.
I have been busy with school, and miss watching these chimps change day to day.
I am happy that you let Jody be, she deserves this and more.
The peaceful expression on her face is priceless, thank you for what you are doing.

WOW…what a difference. I love the way she puts that foot up or holds it. I love seeing photos of the chimps. No matter how bad my day is seeing their beautiful faces makes me smile. I’m like Shelly K..I will never get enough of looking at the Cle Elum 7. I get a lump in my throat when I see how happy they are now and how much healthier they look.
Jody, you can spit water at me anytime girl! I’m thrilled they all have so many fans. Although I am a pal to Foxie, each one of them have touched my heart and I love them all to bits!

Oh my! Jody looks so afraid to trust in that last picture. She looks like she is waiting for something awful to happen and enjoying the little bit of nest while she can. It is hard to believe these chimp people have come so far and are so happy! Again words just can’t express my joy and thankfulness in their new lease on life. I think the photos of Jody with her foot in the air say it all.

She looks like she is so deep into her thoughts….I wonder how for back their long term memory goes, I hope she is thinking good thoughts! I was a pal to Foxie, now to Negra, Diana I think you need to make some kind of special like choose 1 for 240 two for 400 3 for 650, it is very hard to choose just one because we love them all, if there was a special like that I would have had to make a even harder decision.
All my love Annie, Burrito, Foxie , Jamie, Jodi, Negra nd Missy XOXO

I am proud to say I am a pal to Jody! Just reading the little description of her above, makes me realize how perfect a pal she is for me. Isn’t she beautfiful? I feel like a proud mom 🙂 The last picture is sad, but wow, how she has blossomed.
Shelly C – I agree it was hard to pick just one!

I received Jody as a pal as an xmas gift today and I’m so grateful to my secret santa!! I already have Jamie, Missy and Annie and am just so touched to now be a pal to sweet, sweet, Jody. I love the pictures of her holding her little feet and just gazing out day dreaming! This is the second time I have received a pal as a gift and I highly recommend it! My parents gave me a pal as my joint xmas and upcoming birthday and I told them it was the greatest gift I have ever gotten. Thank-you to all the other chimp pals out there-now let’s band together and try to know out this last 11 to reach the goal!
Love,
Courtney

The “before” pictures always surprise me. The chimps look pale and seem to be suffering major hair loss. The “now” pictures are so reassuring that with love and care (granted the chimps are still in captivity, but…) and stimulation, the visible improvement is dramatic. You can only imagine how much happier their soul is. You’ve given so much to them—thank you! And thanks for sharing the wonderful stories and photographs. I often take my students to this blog.

Just the mouth says it all. In the first photo taken of her, in her tiny nest, she is not smiling and you can see the near anxiety with her situation. In all the rest of the photos she has a smile on her face, a natural look of contentedness. To each person who has made a difference in these precious lives, thank you.
