Three months ago Missy was sitting in a lab. Today? Enjoying every moment! And on the human side – five years ago this project was just an idea in Keith’s head. Today? He’s chasing Missy till he’s out of breath!

you know it Sarah!
what a wonderful video, what a pleasure it must be to be out of breath for her – she loves it!
GO KEITH! GO MISSY!
Question for JB – knowing how good you are at pant hoots, is there a reason that I haven’t heard any of the staff pant hooting with the chimps on the videos that are posted? Seems like that would just be too much fun! Of course unless it’s not advisable(?)
Keith ~ love seeing you playing with Missy!!
So much fun for the both of them!
Hey CCC’s! This blog is by request from Shelly C, she had posted once but as we know, our blogs get lost. She’s looking for CCC’s who would like to have thier photo’s posted on the CSNW myspace site – she will post the photo for you. if you’d like to participate, please send photos to [email protected]. She would like to include your name, where you live, age (if you desire), and any additional information you’d like to share such as your passion (chimps!) or your occupation. Shelly C will be working on the space all weekend (bless her heart!).
Note to Tamela: Shelly C isn’t able to upload your photo, can you please resend it to the email address listed in this blog?
Thanks all! Shelly K
Folks, right now on television, tons of the biggest hollywood stars are on a huge, very emotionally compelling show, to raise funds for cancer research. How great would it be if even part of this show could include raising funds that support alternatives to testing on animals.
EXACTLY, Shelly K. That is exactly what we need. PCRM (Physicians for Responsible Medicine) works on that all the time but if more humans understood this there would be no non-human animals in labs…or anywhere else than in there natural environment.
LOVE seeing Keith and Missy playing.
Thank you Margaret and Karen, for blogging about PCRM. As you know from our off-line emails, as much as all animal welfare issues are important to me, this is my greatest area of interest. Am anxious for a thread from this blog so that we can collaborate more on the whole variety of interesting topics the CCC’s have blogged about.
Yes, Shelly. As I understand it (and I may be wrong because I don’t really have it very clearly in my mind) the myspace page Shelly C is working on will let us do this connecting. I will try and get a mysoace page done so I can see how it all works.
Yes ~ as far as I understand it, too, but I don’t have it clear in my mind either :-} Diana has also indicated that she will create a link right on this site, to a forum where we can chat more easily.
That is too cool!!! I just got home from working at PAWS with the wildlife. I was able to get on the CSNW site but the video of Missy and Keith was blocked. I just got in and had to see that video. Too much fun! Yes, I’d love to hear the pant hoots on the video also.
I’m excited to have the myspace page up to connect with everyone. Way to go Shelly C. I’ll send photos but it probably won’t happen until Sunday. I’ll be back at PAWS in the morning feeding baby squirrels and then will be in Monroe for the Veaux Swift migration. We have the 2nd largest population in the US. They roost in a chimney on an elementary school by the thousands before moving on. The animal lovers are trying to save the chimney from being torn down. Wish us luck. Sleep tight.
Oh very best to you and everyone in support of saving the roosting spot Jeani!!
I know that chimney spot too, Jeani and hope to get there again this year. It is an amazing sight to see the thousands of little swifts rush in there for the night. The same thing happens in Portland Oregon at the Chapman School. The people managed to save that chimney so I hope the Chapman School one is saved too. Is there a website for the activity of saving the chimney?
Hi everyone! I am taking a break from building the myspace page, I was in my pj’s until 1pm working on it, it is too hot outside to do anything anyway, it is over 100 in the shade. I created some great slideshows on the myspace page. For the chimney saving, someone that knows more details about it should go to care2 and start a petition to save the chimney, get 100 signatures and take them to the city right people and you may be able to stop it. Petittions can work if you work them! How much fun and good for the soul it is to save the wildlife, you go Jeani! Anyway I just wanted to check in , I may not blog but I have been checking on it as usual!! Have a great day! As soon as I receice pics of all the CCC’s I will create a nice slideshow for the page! Shelly Diana, did you get rid of something I posted on myspace or am I seeing things, or not seeing things??? I will talk to you tomorrow!
Thanks guys. I just stopped by to check in and then am off to the chimney. Shelly C thanks for the information. That is being done. I’m not sure how many names are on there but I know there are a lot. Tonight is sponsored by Pilchuck Audubon And there are going to be quite a few tables with information from several groups, including PAWS. Margaret and Karen, I hope you get there again this year. It really is amazing. Got to run. Hi to all.
Hello there! Shelly C….I wouldn’t know how to revise anything on myspace and wouldn’t be inclined to ~ more power to you and CSNW on creating and enhancing it! 🙂
Jeani ~ love that you were checking in, how were the baby squirrels this morning? Hope the chimney event goes well.
TTYL! Shelly K
The baby squirrels are adorable. Each one is so unique. I have a soft spot for the one who won’t eat unless he is holding on to my finger. Most of them wrap there paws around the syringe. The other special moment with the babies is the flying squirrel. She is so soft and needs to be brushed after we feed her. It’s rough but somebody has to do it. 🙂 (The only rough part is not talking to her and kissing her. She is wild and I want her to be able to go back to the wild.
Today I moved a couple of possums to the outdoor area. Usually possums are all teeth and no bite. Well one of them growls, lunges at you, and will try to bite. He is so funny. I wore leather gloves to catch him up and he did manage to catch a finger. Thank goodness for leather gloves, I couldn’t even feel it. He is now happy in a very large structure that will aclimate him for release in a couple of weeks.
The swifts were fantastic. There are about 5000 who roost in the chimney. There were about 500 people and the boxes were out for donations to save the chimney. It needs to be earthquake proofed and shored up around the outside. We found out we have a couple more years to get it done before the city will remove it.
Thanks for all you kind thoughts.
Jeani, thanks so much for taking the time to describe the squirrels, possum and swifts, I love you blog 🙂
WOW, great job Jeani, you are inspiring me to look at more volunteering possibilities – thanks so much for all your wonderful descriptions!!
I just noticed I typed 100 signatures, I meant 1000 or you could go for 5000, you really should start a petition, write your story, it will be heard around the world and you will get tons of signatures and comments from people that want to help, for some people signing petitions is the only voice they have to stop some of the madness pertaining to the animal abuse around the globe!!!!
Shelly C I love your passion! It gets me motivated. I will look into it. Thanks to everyone for their blog. I just love starting my day and ending it with this.
Talk to you later.
I envy Keith. That would be an awesome experience to play with them! Being out of breath would be worth it, hands down.
