Troll Mania

August 18, 2008 by Diana

Troll dolls have reached fad status at the chimp house. Jody recently caught on to the trend! Here’s a photo of her with a somewhat bald troll in her hip pocket.

Foxie continues to carry around Princess (or her formerly pink-haired look alike) and allows us to wash the now-bald Trixie each day. When Foxie sees Trixie in the laundry basket drying out, she softly hoots or whimpers, indicating that she wants Trixie back. Then she carries around one big troll (Trixie) and one small troll for most of the day. We’re looking forward to adding to the troll clan – keep them coming!

ooohhhh, Foxie hoots or whimpers when Trixie is in the laundry basket. Who would’ve guessed that it would be hard plastic trolls that they’d form emotional attachments to? I would’ve thought it would’ve been the soft, cushy stuffed animals. I’m just glad they’re enjoying them.

Thanks for the update. It is so sweet to think of Foxie wanting her babies back so much. Isn’t it always what you least expect? I’m glad the trolls are starting to have an influence on everyone. XOXOXOXOXO to the chimps and trolls.

I had a baby taken away from me when I was young so I totally understand how these girls feel, I wonder if they forget or if like humans carry the pain, because in the wild they stay together for life don’t they? If they carry the pain like I do they find comfort in loving something else, for me it is dogs, I have 4 but if I could I would rescue as many as I could. Does anyone know where the babies are? On R&R they have most of the names and DOBs of all the chimps in labs across this country, I wonder which ones are their children…..I wish we could save their babies from living in a lab as long as these beautiful souls have. I want to find out more on how to save more chimps, if we build more sanctuaries will they come or this this just a dream???? I hope they all find something to hold and snuggle, like watching Burrito in his sleep, he looks like he wants to snuggle with someone! LUV TO THE SEVEN XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

I’m glad they have an object they can love and fuss over. It’s just sad that they’ve had so many babies taken away from them. I know it isn’t responsible and a big committment, but I just wish one of them could have a baby that all could love.

Have you guys heard that every time you pull out a troll hair you can make a wish and it comes true? Looks like it may be working for the chimps. Do they have any regular baby dolls made out of the same plastic as the troll dolls or do you think they would like a regular baby doll?

It’s so cool the way the chimps can use their feet like hands! I wish I could do that!! 🙂

hopefully maybe one day CSNW will be able to possibly accomodate and reunite some (or all) of their long lost children.. and/or rescue a baby/young chimpanzee who desperately needs a loving home with mother figures/social family group situation.. I know that this is easier said than done and very expensive plus the extra time, work, preparations and introductions is not easy … but maybe one day this could be possible!

Shelly C – so sorry to hear what happened to you
