Foxie’s daughter

August 24, 2008 by Diana

Shelly C. is having trouble posting comments this morning, and wanted us to be sure to send this link of a photo of Angie, Foxie’s daughter. Angie is being cared for by Save the Chimps and will soon be making her journey to their beautiful sanctuary in Florida. Here is a link to her short bio, which includes a photo: http://www.savethechimps.org/bios_angie.asp

We at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest have plans to find other children of the chimpanzees under our care – we just haven’t had the time to do so yet, so thank you Shelly C. for finding Angie! It is so wonderful to learn that Angie is safe at another sanctuary and will soon be moving to Florida where she will live in a large social group and spend her days on an island.  I’ll see if I can find out any more information about Angie – just from the brief description, it sounds like she has a lot in common with Foxie.

WOW!! This is a BEAUTIFUL photo of Angie, and I love the fact that she shakes her fists just like Foxie shakes & stares at her troll dolls…like mother like daughter!!! 🙂 It will be so much fun to follow Angies progress now, too, as she transitions to the beautiful sanctuary in Florida!! Thanks to Shelly C, this has made my day!!!

Whew Hoo! I think I fixed it, I just changed my name!!! I have been trying to post to the bog since last night so I could send you all the info about Angie!!! At least we know when we are down, there is no stopping us!!! I wanted to say I found my son (that was taken away from me) with the internet. The only info I had was male and date of birth and I found him. He will not have anything to do with me and I found him 9 years ago, but my heart and soul are much better knowing he is alive and well. So HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY Foxie, I wish we could share this news with you and you would understand, that one of your children are safe and out of the hands of “The Coulston Foundations” Hitler Scientists, Thank GOD!!!! She will be living in beautiful Florida with 200 plus other chimps, taking in the sun and running all over the sanctuary!!!!!

I think Angie may already be in Florida. She is part of Jaybee’s family; they moved to Florida last month or in June, I believe. I searched Save the Chimps’ website — couldn’t find anything on it, but I’m pretty sure.

Jaybees story is very heartwrenching….he is so sweet and tahnk God for Dr. Noon that had seen him making a nest with his monkey chow, unbeleivable what these poor souls have had to endure during their lifetime! Too bad we did not have internet back in the 60s and 70s, I do not think for a minute that we would have ever let the Government test on the chimps the way they did, with space, biomedical labs, and all the other forms of torture that has taken place in the good ol USA on the Chimpanzees. It makes me sick to my stomach that the government has funded this for so many years!

Oh…..my……gosh, thank you so much, I see Angie’s photo now. Over and over again, I simply can’t find the words…….but I know that all of you understand the depth of emotion.

Just one thing, every day, to help our next of kin…..

Shelly C ~ I’m so glad you found your son and have peace knowing that he is well.

Thanks Shelly K/ I know the pain Foxie went thru when they took Angie away, that is why I shared my story!!!! I hate it that this continues….when is it going to stop!!! How do people do this kind of thing and sleep at night, they must have nothing inside, no heart, no soul, no compassion! I hope none of them have children, could you imagine the kind of children they would raise?

“Our Next of Kin”…..I like that. I wonder if Foxie would recognise a photo of Angie? She was a baby, of course, when she was taken from Foxie so maybe not. It is wonderful to think we might be able to trace some of the families. Thanks, Shelly C for finding Angie.

Speaking of next of kin, if you haven’t read it I highly recommend Next of Kin: My Conversations with Chimpanzees, by Roger Fouts, founder of the Chimpanzee Human Communications Institute (http://www.friendsofwashoe.org/). He was the one who taught Washoe. Next of Kin is absolutely wonderful. It’s about Fouts’s life with Washoe, the sacrifices he made for her and his journey from being a scientist/researcher to advocate for chimps in captivity (he campaigns to end medical research on chimps). It is heart-wrenching in places but hilarious in others. Intro is by Jane Goodall. A wonderful read.

What a beautiful picture! And I’m glad to know which group she is in so we can follow her journey in Florida. Thank you Shelly C. for sharing your story. I was reading the other bios and oh my gosh, you want to laugh, cry and smile at all the descriptions. I am so glad there were so many given a chance when Coulston went out of business and actually had the decency to contact Dr Noon so she could save all those chimps.

With all of the millions Coulston made, I wonder if he lives in a mansion, while all th eChimps were being neglected. He is quite old now, I wonder if he regrets some of the choices he made in life???? I watched the videos of the chimps being set free and it really brings tears to your eyes, when they are hugging each other, as to tell each other, its finally over. For them the freedom of the sancuary is freedom because they do not really know what it is like to have a huge rainforest to play in, too bad, but thank god they are finally out of harms way. I hope they update their site with more pics and videos, maybe one day we will see Angie in one.

I just read on the internet that Frederick Coulston passed away in December 2003.

I do wonder if he ever regretted some of the choices he made, Shelly C. We will never know.

There is a chimp named Spock living at Fauna, wonder if that is Daddy?

Audrey emailed me this morning ~ check out the article in the Seattle Times today!

I already asked Diana about Spock, she thinks Angie’s daddy Spock is at Save the Chimps where Angie is headed, the Spock at Fauna came from a zoo.

Is Virgil from Save the Chimps Annie’s son? He was born 06-20-89 and his mother is Annie, father Rufus. Rufus is at Save the Chimps, but there’s no Annie. Virgil is in the group with Foxie’s daughter Angie.

Wow that would be great, Diana said her and the staff were going to try and find the children, but they have not had the time. Any help on our side would probably be great!

that’s great that CSNW is going to seek out where all their offsprings are .. I hope that they all can be located and that they are all safe, well taken care of & protected .. yeah, maybe we all could help in locating these guys …

I have read everything from Save The Chimps & Fauna (I loved their old site better, there were a lot of stories from Gloria & care staff) and I never thought or put two & two together that Angie was Foxie’s daughter (good eye Shelly C!) .. I am so glad & relieved that Angie is with Save The Chimps .. and I love that she’s in Jaybee’s group .. that Jaybee, what a character-I loved that story when the care staff thought for a moment that he was being destructive with his blankets, when all he was doing was making a hole in the middle of his blanket so that he could stick his head through it and wear it like a poncho! GO JAYBEE!

great article in the Seattle Times, thanks ShellyK

I printed the articles at work and passed them around, they were loved by all! I think one day Negra will figure that one out, how to out a hole in the middle and wear a blanket like a pancho!!!!

speaking of that hell hole horrendous torture chamber called the Coulston Foundation in Alamogordo –
we know Carole has custody of all the Chimps there, however I do not know if she also owns the buildings & the property ..
but one of my many wishes is that once she & her staff has safely removed themselves & every last Chimp from there and safely onto the islands (if I remember correctly she said by 2009) and no soul is left on the premises- that she or Kelly Overton gets some demolition grade explosives and blows that place to smithereens.
no more hopeless concrete steel dungeons for any more primates (or any other animal for that matter) EVER AGAIN .. GONE. FOR GOOD.

    I know, I know .. wishful thinking
