A day in the life of a coconut

June 8, 2009 by Elizabeth

Burrito carried around his coconut for a couple of hours this morning (rolling it, shaking it, cradling it) before breaking it open to enjoy the goodness. Be sure your speaker volume is up so you can hear his contented grunts and moans.

Chillin’ outside

June 7, 2009 by Elizabeth

It’s a little overcast in Cle Elum today, but that didn’t stop the chimps from spending some time outside. Jamie patrolled the outdoor area wearing her troll scarf, Missy engaged Diana in a game of chase, and Annie had a quiet moment with a mirror.

Nesting and Resting Outside

June 6, 2009 by Diana

I decided to add some text within the video below. Foxie is really coming along with her nesting! And, seriously, who can resist Negra? Don’t forget about her birthday, which we’re celebrating on June 13th, and our $7,000 fundraising goal for June. We’re almost half-way there – $4,000 more to go!

“Imaginary” play

May 31, 2009 by Elizabeth

In the interest of full disclosure, I feel I should admit that I didn’t get around to taking any new photos or video today. Here, as a sort of peace offering, is a video from a couple of weeks ago of Missy playing with a ghost she found in the front rooms. Annie tries to get in on the action as well, and Burrito looks on from a distance.

(Okay, it’s not really a ghost — it’s just Jamie.)

Chasing Jamie

May 25, 2009 by Elizabeth

Sometimes games of chase are fast and furious, and sometimes they’re… not.

(Don’t let Jamie’s attire fool you — it’s a beautiful day in Cle Elum!)

And here’s a portrait just because:

Chimpanzee footprint pendants / Fundraising update

May 24, 2009 by Diana

Another great fundraising page was added by Tamela! She is an artist and jewelry maker and will send a really cool chimpanzee footprint pendant (see photo below) to those who donate on her page. There are six folks who now have fundraising pages and we’ve raised almost $2,000!! We need $5,000 more to go by June 30th to reach the goal. You can still have a portrait of one of the Cle Elum Seven painted just for you and have a four-course meal delivered to your Seattle home, or you can choose to support a friend who’s started a page. To see all of the fundaising pages, click here. For more details, including how to start your own page, see our Help Us Fundraise page.

Thanks for helping us celebrate one year of sanctuary life and Negra’s birthday!
