Elizabeth

Thank you

August 18, 2012 by Elizabeth

We’ve received several Sponsor a Day donations this week for the day of or the days following the fire. We want to thank the following people for their thoughtful gifts:

Lisa Kane
Anthony Blasioli
Karen Bugni
Heidi Shaw
Stephen Lipsius
Lori Gruen

The chimps are all doing great, as evidenced by these photos taken yesterday.

How to help

August 17, 2012 by Elizabeth

We continue to be so touched by the outpouring of love and support we’ve received in the aftermath of the Taylor Bridge wildfire from well-wishers all over the world. The best way to help the sanctuary at this time is to make a monetary donation by clicking here.

While the sanctuary certainly suffered, and we have a long road ahead of us, it could have been a lot worse, and it has been a lot worse for many people. As of today, the fire is almost 40 square miles in size, and more than 70 homes and 200 outbuildings have been burned. The community has pulled together in amazing and inspiring ways to help the people and animals affected by the fire. We want to share some resources for those interested in contributing.

Donate:

*Make checks payable to Taylor Bridge Animal Rescue Fund and mail to:

Kittitas Valley Chamber of Commerce
609 N. Main St.
Ellensburg, WA 98926

*Donate to our local Red Cross by clicking here or calling 509-925-5866.  Or you can make a quick and easy $10 donation via your cell phone by texting REDCROSS to 90999.  The charge will be added to your next phone bill.

Jordan and Lucy love Foxie

August 8, 2012 by Elizabeth

Jordan and Lucy Bower sponsored today for Foxie’s 36th birthday. Jordan and her daughter Lucy are big fans of Miss Foxie, and they show their love frequently and generously. They sponsor Foxie through our Chimpanzee Pal program, and they even sent Foxie some new Dora the Explorer dolls. (Foxie was very grateful.) Thanks so much to Jordan and Lucy for being such great chimp friends! We’ll be sure to throw Foxie a truly magnificent birthday bash today.

Missy up close and personal

August 6, 2012 by Elizabeth

I am rarely able to get photos of Missy. There are two reasons for this. First, as the resident CSNW athlete, she’s rarely sitting still. Second, she’s camera shy. When she sees me coming near her with a camera, she either leaves the premises or turns her back. So I was pretty excited today when she let me get some close-ups of her during a grooming session with Burrito.

Ants on a Log

July 23, 2012 by Elizabeth

Volunteers Steph and Sara made ants on a log for the chimps’ lunch today. It was a big hit. (Seven out of seven chimpanzees agree that the appropriate method for tackling ants on a log is to lick off the peanut butter and raisins first, and go back for the celery later.)

For Ruby

July 20, 2012 by Elizabeth

Brigetta Barone sponsored today in honor of her daughter, Ruby, who is “a caring and beautiful young woman who has enormous compassion for animals.”  What a sweet gesture!  (You can sponsor a day for a loved one here.)

Here’s Foxie with one of her loved ones, a troll doll:
