Negra Plays Tug-o-War with a Caregiver

May 3, 2026 by Diana

J.B. and Ryan took the panels off of all three greenhouses today. That allowed me to hang out with Negra (and Burrito and Jamie) this afternoon at the top of the greenhouse. Negra seemed happy to have my company, even when we were just sitting together.

Always good to see she still has the spirit!
Of course she enjoys your company, Diana! I think if any of the chimps have shown love and gratitude to you for all that you’ve done for them, no one better than our dear Neggie!
She looks as though she’s lost weight. Is that so?

Oh, beautiful Negra enjoying her play time with you and Burrito and I must say that lady still has plenty of go in her looking very alert and bright eyed. Much to be said for Negra’s support group giving her that boost and playfulness. Negra is a star! :star:?:star:

I agree with Linda and Susan: Neggie knows who her human friends are, and their love and care for her. What a gift it must be to be in her presence.

Sweet Negra, I love that she decides to play tug-o-war laying down.:revolving_hearts:

Oh that beautiful face, dear Negra. It makes us so happy to see her playing with you with Burrito by her side. What a lovely video thank you.

Oh my, those closeups of Negra are so delicious! She has the sweetest face. And her eyes are always so twinkly! Negra must be feeling well, as she took a lot of time to check out her own reflection in the phone. When an old gal still chooses to take care of her appearance, that’s a good sign. 🙂

The gang must be so happy to have the panels off of the greenhouse! Negra clearly enjoys and feels so at ease with you, Diana, at her side. So relaxed, she chose to play tug lying down! It also seemed that Burrito had a calmness in Neggie’s presence today.

I swear I was just fixing to ask when those panels are gonna come off! I thought of it when Neggie was eating the lettuce yesterday. because I love seeing the view from their eyes whenever you take photos or videos in the greenhouses.

So how did you play with her up so high? Were you up on a scaffold? Or just a really tall ladder?Maybe you need to leave it up so you can play with her up there more often, or even feed her up there. You’re such a doll for finding every little opportunity to support our Queen!

That’s the part of the greenhouse that faces the hill. Built into a hill, so if they play chase with Bubba, they have to run around the corner, down the incline and some stairs, and into greenhouse doors. When you see them serving lunch on the Queen’s brunch, this is where they are standing. (Picture the corner where they did the dance line on her 50th).
      (It’s not her usual 3rd level platform, it’s “Jody’s table” 2nd)
