Laughing

September 16, 2011 by Debbie

As many of our regular blog readers know, Annie is coming out of her shell more and more. We’ve seen her become more confident and play with chimps other than Missy. Foxie seems to be someone she likes to play with, and the other day I caught them in an intense wrestling match. Their laughter was amazing! It really makes me smile so much when I think about how much Annie and the other chimps have all changed since their arrival to the sanctuary over 3 years ago. I can’t wait to see what other changes we might see in the chimps’ personalities after Young’s Hill opens!

Speaking of the ever-changing chimps, in this clip, you’ll see Annie and Foxie playing with Foxie’s new doll that I mentioned on her Facebook page. This is not a troll doll, and although it resembles a troll, it’s still great to see her expanding her usual very narrow focus on “enrichment objects worth interacting with.” As seen in this blog from just a few days ago, Foxie is well on her way to making nests with blankets! Like I said above, it’s amazing to see how the chimps have all changed and keep on changing.

Holy cow!!! I know they’re having a great time but at the end I felt like I was watching a Rocky movie!! Those girls sure pack a wallop : )

I thought the same thing! It’s great to see them playing with such exuberance!

Pull up the 12-05-08 video to see Foxie & Jamie play fighting, to see and hear their wallops. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of a chimpanzee slap.

So wonderful, can’t wait for Young’s HIll! And Gayle, they do kinda look like the Rock Em Sock Em Robots at the end there!!!

They certainly were having a great time! Who was the third one watching at the end–was that Missy? Yes, they certainly have come a long way and find joy every day. Thank you.

Jody was sitting in the room while Foxie and Annie were play-slapping each other. She was completely un-interested in the game, but rather just spent the whole time contently grooming herself.

    What no trolls?
I think I did see something with purple hair at the end of the clip.
    Silly, sweet girls. 🙂

That slap fest at the end had me snickering in my office cubicle!

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful! I was also wondering if the chimps ever accidentally injure one another when they play rough – I know they can injure one another during a real scuffle, but do they ever forget how strong they are and accidentally hurt themselves when they were only playing? I love the chimp laughter too, and I can hardly wait for the footage from Young’s Hill….This is a dream come true!!! Thanks for all you do for the chimps, and also for all you do for animal rights activists everywhere. It’s easy to become discouraged sometimes, but just being able to witness an organization like yours, making strides and moving the “ball” down the “field” consistently is so encouraging. I remember wishing the Cle Elum Seven had an outdoor area…and then, here we are, about a year and a half later, and it’s REAL! It’s actually happening! Anyway, just wanted to thank you for them, and for all of us who believe in what you do! – love and light, Kaite

THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I’m trying to be patient, but I desperately need a blog update.
Fingers crossed everything is going great over there. I hope it has been a magical day thus far! 🙂
