Eat, Drink and Be Terry

October 3, 2022 by Anthony

We caregivers often talk about Terry’s kind and easygoing personality. He’s not without occasional bursts of machismo, but these emotional tempests quickly subside to reveal his true gentle nature. It’s always a pleasure to be in Terry’s warm presence, and he seems to hold us caregivers in equally high esteem.

Today, I sat near Terry while he industriously processed a paper braid stuffed with seeds and raisins. It’s always nice to see the chimpanzees engaged with their enrichment, and we value opportunities to share those moments with our readers and supporters. On that note, here’s a clip of Terry’s sweet face for you all to enjoy!

Ooh, a cool Pant-Hoot at the end of the video, very exciting. Terry has the sweetest face, and he’s working so hard on his puzzle.
This is kinda the Chimp equivalent of that weird 70’s/80’s candy that was Dots of hard sugar stuck on a strip of paper. I don’t know why, but for some reason we used to love that as kid’s.
This looks to be healthier alternative.. 🙂

Haha, it does remind me of those candies! I was a big fan of peeling Twizzlers apart. That would be my ideal sanctuary enrichment (if calories from sugar weren’t a concern).

CeeCee, it does resemble Dots candy! I don’t recall seeing any of the braids before; what a good idea.

I had the best surprise today. I had an email showing a package arriving today with a USPS tracking number. All day, I was trying ro recall what I had ordered that would fit inside my mailbox. Finally arrived home, grabbed the mail, opened the cardboard envelope, and it was the CSNW calendar I had ordered!!! What a great surprise! The pics are just fantastic. And I love that everyone’s birthdays and special anniversary dates are printed throughout the calendar. Such a special treat!

I’m always amazed by how large and powerful the hands and wrists of The Big Guys look, but, at the same time they look so graceful and delicate. Like Terry here. His hands are so delicate picking up the tiny seeds. Terry’s big strong hands have the grace of a ballerina!

Terry and Cy are both known for being gentle. It’s quite surprising to see them be so polite when each of their hands is the size of a catcher’s mitt.
