Lunchtime With the Cle Elum Seven

October 2, 2022 by Grace

Meals are always an exciting time of the day around here! The chimps get fresh fruits and vegetables for all three meals of the day, along with forages and food puzzles throughout the day and evening. Everyone has their favorites, of course, and today Caregiver Katelyn prepared tomatoes, mini sweet peppers, and avocados for lunch!

Join us for lunchtime with the Cle Elum Seven on this beautiful October day. 🙂

I concur! It is a feast in itself to see all seven (or eight, if you count Jody’s happy dinosaur grunt as the presence of an extra guest) enjoying their Sunday dinner.

I looove that pic of Neggie with the cukes!

Jody looked unimpressed at the tray, but then the dinosaur growls…
I realized that. Bubba, Missy and Foxie tend to make lots of noise BEFORE they are served, but only Bubba makes squeaks after. And Neggie makes no noise before being served, but, food deserving, makes some great squeaks while eating, like Bubba sometimes does.

I’m surprised Foxie wasn’t in that mix, considering that there were avocados.

Jamie, I’ve been doing the mini peppers myself (though mine are filled with refried beans and salsa, and baked).
Thanks for the video, Grace and Katelyn!

What was the little clap and what looked sign language at the end?

      She was saying “that’s 3. that’s all.”
They always get 2 chow bags at the end of each meal, sort of a signal that meal service has ended. Plus, they can take the chow to go if they wish. Burrito and Foxie each get three. Burrito, right there, was trying to charm her out of another 🙂

My internet was down yesterday evening so being able to watch this video with my cup of coffee was the perfect way to kick off Monday! Bonus photos appreciated!

I could never begin to put it into words, but the feeling I get watching Jamie and the gang eat their meals all in a line in the greenhouse is simply so joyful I swear it makes my chest/heart tingle!

Neggie’s food squeak! And the photo of her with her mouth packed full of cucumbers! Thanks for letting me have a seat at the table today!!! I loved every minute.
