After the Storm

February 16, 2019 by Diana

The days after a snowstorm (or series of snowstorms) are so wonderful, aren’t they? It’s like reawakening to a changed world.

J.B., with the help of volunteer Jonathan, made some pathways in the snow for the chimpanzees today. The chimps watched the work being done for them from the greenhouse. When everything was ready for them, they went outside to stretch their legs a bit, take in the landscape, and get some snow to snack on.

Burrito following Annie:

Jody:

Jody and Missy:

Foxie:

You may have already guessed that Negra wasn’t with the first expedition of the morning, but instead stayed inside until afternoon:

Jamie, meanwhile, was preoccupied with a couple of magazines. In fact, she’s more preoccupied with photos of boots than with boots themselves lately.

She did take the time to go outside to grab a big chuck of snow after lunch before returning to a magazine:

What rich personalities these individuals have! Thank you so much–it is wonderful to watch them explore, and to see their particular loves: Foxie with her dolls and o my, that bower-bird like home for Jamie’s boot photo! Hoooo!

So, was Missy able to slow down for the others, or was there a traffic jam!? 😀

You know, now that I look at it………the shots of Jody and Missy together….I think that’s the most beautiful shot I’ve ever seen of Jody!

It is a beautiful picture of Missy and Jody peering out over the ocean of snow. As for myself, I am still admiring the picture of Jody from last Monday, curled upon on a blanket fresh from the dryer.

The chimps always make the best of every single day, all in their own individual way. How much snow did you get? Looks like a lot. Snow snacks and icicles will be bountiful for a while I guess, what fun!

Jamie is a lot like me. I love catalogs! Thank goodness! I can dream and plan outfits to my heart’s content, and it doesn’t cost a thing. I’m sure Jamie appreciates the endless possibilities of all the lovely boots in the world!

I’m intrigued: does Jamie still patrol Her Boundaries in the heavy snow?

I don’t know if she’s gone all the way around since a path was plowed for her. She won’t go around if she has to walk in deep snow, but if there’s a path plowed, she often will!

These fascinating Chimps are always such a sight to behold…I get such enjoyment from watching their uniquely different personalities every day…I find it especially endearing how they gathered together to watch that path being cleared just for THEM…

Have any of the caregivers taught the chimps to go sledding?
