Burrito and his after dinner enrichment

February 15, 2019 by J.B.

The chimps are presented with different food puzzles each night before they settle down and make their nests. Volunteers placed peanuts and spoonfuls of peanut butter in cups and screwed them together in stacks. Burrito carefully unscrewed the cups from each other to find the treats but found it much easier to use his large, powerful canine teeth to rip off the lids – reminding us that an effective solution to a problem often looks different from a chimpanzee’s perspective.

    Aw, mah Burrito-toes man!

I think if women had to work this hard to get at their food we’d find it less difficult to lose a LOT more weight. 😀

See, Jeeb? Listen at those sounds! I’m tellin’ ya…videos and audio files of nothing but munching, crunching, and food squeakin’.

Perfect for an APP. You’re potentially sitting on Googols of dollars. Think about it. 😀

    Cheers.

So I guess sometimes determination trumps patience and style!
He did unscrew many of them, though, so it looks as though he’s improving on the dexterity.

Genius! This proves how smart and super savvy Burrito is. He solved the puzzle, fast and efficient. Who said he had to play by our rules of engagement?! : ) Anything for food in Burrito’s handbook. Very smart, charming, funny, playful, adorable…..what a guy!

My dog was just like Burrito. She never met a food puzzle she couldn’t outsmart, and in record time. She would have the top cracked opened in 10 seconds or less, just like Burrito, only she didn’t have opposable thumbs. Boom, instant payoff with none of the effort! Never knew how she unscrewed so many carefully created, bomb-proof feeding toys but she did.

Thanks for the video! Always a treat to watch Mr. B.
