Missy’s new blanket

September 3, 2008 by Diana

Here is a video from the first day outside. One of our board members, Zibby Wilder, brought a blanket made by her grandmother specifically for Missy. The video is Missy taking the small pink blanket and nesting with it, Jamie coming over to perch on a boat bumper, Missy being overcome by the urge to chase Annie, and Foxie stomping around on the deck. Foxie’s stomping is something she did when the chimpanzees went into the play area for the first time – I wonder if Angie would do the same thing.

I love the way Missy gets side tracked chasing Annie. Just what kids do! And that Foxie stomping around is hysterical. Is that a way to express not being in the limelight or getting a blanket? I love the troll!

No matter what picture or video we see, we can always tell which one is Foxie, always has her baby with her! Does she sleep with her troll snuggled with her. It looks like Missy is cold and wants her blanket to warm up, is that the case here, or just making a nest for the day???

Foxie does sleep with a troll (or two). Missy loves making nests – no matter what the weather, and Annie loves to distract Missy when she’s making a nest by instigating play. I love to watch them. It was quite warm that day. Today is lovely too. We’ve had some colder weather, but the chimps do still go outside, at least for short periods. I think I have some pretty good photos to post today – will do later in the afternoon.

Hi Diana , I am at work so when I get home tonight I will respnd to your email re:address…..ok, I cannot change it but I can delete and start over, someone had already taken it with supporter on the end I tried a couple different versions but they were taken as well, you know how that is when you are trying to set up a .com or .org or email, they are all taken and you have to take whats leftover, so I will work on it, but I will have to delete the one I have already!

    Talk to you soon!
    Shelly

Can’t wait to see the pictures tonight!

This is so wonderful, my 88 year old mother (Zibby’s Grandmother) knitted this blanket for “Missy”. It kept her going as much as it will keep “Missy” going. What goes around comes around. It brings tears to my heart. WOW!

Well now as far as I’m concerned Susan, that just cements it…….this should be a hollywood movie. The story of the Cle Elum Seven from birth to now ~ definitely with Zibby’s 88 year old Grandmother knitting this blanket for Missy – and Missy’s enjoyment of it, in the movie. Darryl Hannah, Hayden P, Alec Baldwin, Betty White, Mary Tyler Moore, Pam Anderson, William Shatner, Bob Barker……..there are lots of hollywood folks who speak out for the animals. Here I go again……..;-)

And Shelly thank you for turning my tears into laughter. Keep going…..

Oh Susan….how sweet of her! I know Missy will love her gift as it comes from the heart. Those are the very best gifts!
My girl Foxie is making sure she is noticed, isn’t she? I see you gorgeous girl…..you can stomp all you want! I think she is showing how happy she is now. Annie feels so good she wants to play. Bless their hearts. I am so happy for them!
