Terry is someone who really loves to spend quality time with his human friends. Many volunteers and staff can attest that Terry will go to great lengths to get your attention, and if you can’t interact with him yet (interactions with the chimpanzees require multiple levels of training first), he will let you know of his displeasure with that situation by spitting water at you, often aimed at your boots. Many of the other chimps in Terry’s group also want to spend time with their human friends, so it can be tricky to make time for everyone. I had some extra time the other afternoon, so I sought out sweet Terry. In today’s blog video, come along for an afternoon of Terry!

STILL LOVING THE CRUNCHING, CHEWING, AND, LIP, SMACKING, SOUNDS!
Yes, the sound of celery crunching made me run to the kitchen for a healthy snack. Thanks,Terry.
Such a love!
Good to see Lucky Lou is patrolling to keep the highways safe!
Seeing sweet Terry’s large hands so carefully handle delicate flowers is quite a contrast to his exuberant play antics.
Oh, and Im always glad that you guys mention playing tickle–I often wonder if people come upon these and, taking them out of context, think, “why are they poking these chimps with sticks!?”:smile:
I would gladly go through the extensive training process if I could become a “stand in” play date for Terry when you and other staff members are too busy with your chores. There is something so endearing about Teeny Tiny Terry and this includes voicing his opinion by spitting water. That game of spoon tickle was pretty awesome!
Teeny Tiny Terry,
a dining partner most endearing;
his crunching of his celery,
is a sound that’s much worth hearing.
Terry is such a sweetheart! I love how expressive his face is. Hos expressions crack me up!
What a joyful guy! And I agree with Gaynell about his large hands being so gentle on that delicate flower. This was a fun video. Thanks, Ellen!
