A Very CSNW Christmas (Cy’s Edition)

December 26, 2025 by Ellen Brady-McGaughey

Yesterday we celebrated Christmas in true CSNW style, with a feast of chimpanzee holiday favorites (celebration roast, corn, baked russet potatoes, green beans, rolls, sparkling cider, and some very cute lettuce snowmen) and many carefully wrapped presents. Huge thanks to all of the volunteers and staff that planned and prepared the festivities, and our wonderful donors that sent in lots of gifts for the chimpanzees! In today’s blog video, see George and friends get in the Christmas spirit, and come back for one more Christmas blog tomorrow! In case you missed it, see how Jamie’s group enjoyed their day here.

Wow! Georgie sounded more excited than the chimps who knew what was coming! Was it his pomegranates? What did he think of the cider? How quickly did he pick up on the treat bags and boxes? Nice of Rayne to keep him occupied.
I love that Gordito has infected Terry with his bunny hops. I wonder if it will eventually be a part of his group’s culture.
    Thanks for the long videos!

Listening to George expressing all of his excitement made me think how marvelous he finally has something in his life that brings him that much joy. As always, the catering crew did a spectacular job. The meal appeared to be equal to a five star restaurant. Good food, countless packages, lots of fun! Did Dora ever figure out a good use for the gloves she received? She was probably thinking that was a weirdest looking sock she’d ever seen!!

She tasted that glove…I’m praying she didn’t eat it!

George was very excited just like a little kid on Christmas morning. Thank you CSNW staff and volunteers for making Christmas merry and bright with a delicious menu and special gifts. The bunny hops were full of joy and anticipation.

How absolutely sweet! George’s reaction was worth everything, and I’m glad he has so many friends to love and guide and protect him! Fabulous feast, wonderful setup as always. I echo what everyone else said, so much better than I. Hope. Love. Home… SANCTUARY perfectly shown in this short clip. Thank you, CSNW!

That sock! LOL. At first I thought Dora had been injured and her hand was just dangling there. Yikes
Oh, it was so good to see George so excited, but especially good to see the others come to his side. So encouraging. George probably hasn’t had a proper Christmas in what, about 12 years? he has so many wonderful Christmases ahead of him!
Thank you. Every one of you. From his home caretakers to his personal caretakers to his sponsors to all the carers from afar on this blog. Thank you. Love you!

Heart warming and so touching watching George and his buddies getting into the party spirit and with snow thrown in!! What a comparison to George’s previous Christmases. Here he is in his forever home surrounded by love and laughter. Thank you all for making that happen
    Merry Christmas!!
