Every year as the temperatures drop and we prepare for winter, the Greenhouse panels go up as a form of insulation, and we set up the heaters. By insulating and heating the Greenhouses, the chimps are able to utilize their outdoor spaces despite the cold weather and/or snowy conditions.
The other day, we found Willy B posted up in front of the heater, letting his hair blow and mouth hang open. This was surprising because the chimps don’t typically acknowledge the heaters. It’s nice to see that Willy B is making the most out of these cooler days!

My last apartment was in an old victorian mansion. Forced air heat, floor vents. The island lost gas heat for a stretch of a week in January a few years ago. This was me, dancing on those floor vents like Beyonce or Marilyn Monroe, when the heat came back on.
This is one of best videos expressing pure bliss that I’ve seen in a long time. Makes me love Willy B all the more!
Willy B’s joy over feeling the blast of warm air reminded me of Zola the gorilla (at the Dallas Zoo) when he danced his private pool! Willy B and Zola are brothers from another mother. 🙂
