Mave’s enthusiasm for good birthday treats is truly infectious. Happiest of birthdays to one of our floofiest sanctuary residents. Many thanks go out to all our staff and volunteers for pulling off her big day, as well as Paulette Wrisley who sponsored today in honor of Mave!

Dole Whip…
mmmmmm….:yum:
1:35 Is that Mave with brain freeze? 😀
Sweet, sweet birthday treats for a sweet chimpy lady!
Wonderful video, only, showing Mave, and, her, wonderful, vocalizations. And, the, eating, sounds were great.
Oh, Maeve, what irresistible food barks you have! I remember the year when it was discovered that Maeve’s birthday was on Sept. 25, not May 27 as previously assumed, and if I recall correctly, she needed to have two birthdays that year. Though she may be down to just one birthday per annum now, I hope that it was as joyous as her food barks.
Fun, fun, fun galore for a very beautiful Mave.Kicking off with delicious mangoes the birthday party just rolled. Did Mave and her pals settle down for a much needed nap afterwards I wonder? Thank you everyone for pulling out the stops for a great day.I can still hear those pant hoots :cake::sparkling_heart::birthday:
Happiest of birthdays to the marvelous miss Mave! I love seeing your enjoy yor special day!
MAVE!
Thank you, Paulette!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Maeve so excited or talkative as she was enjoying her mangoes and Dole whip. What a happy happy birthday girl. Where’s Willy B and Honey B? Or was part of Mave’s birthday gift a meal served just to her, uninterrupted?
Happy birthday dear Mave. We love you so!
Willy B is on camera going down the stairs as she’s above. No sign of Beezus.
But you can hear Beezus when Mave gets her mango
Happy birthday dear Mave:) We are so happy you are enjoying a fabulous celebration with yummy food and all your friends. Thanks to Paulette and everyone for making this birthday so special.
Thank you, Paulette. Wow. mango and ddole whip, what a delicious combo. Happy Birthday, floofy Mave.
After seeing this video of Mave gleefully slurping down her ripe mangos followed by her Dole whip and coconut, it made me think of this article I just read about chimpanzees in Africa. It states that in the wild, chimps likely ingest the equivalent of several alcoholic drinks every day! A survey of the alcohol content of fruits eaten regularly by African chimps shows that their diet could deliver 14 grams of ethanol daily. Given their body size, that’s nearly two cocktails’ worth.
So I have to ask, was Mave a little hungover this morning?! 😉
Here’s the article:

Would it expkain their vomatile nature?
Gorillas eat lots of browse and are more chill. (We had world gorilla day this week) Bonobos are definitely more chill, wonder what their fruit to browse ratio is.
Well, as my father-in-law would often say “who rang your doorbell?”. I’ve never seen Mave so vocal! and it was wonderful and so fun to hear.
I have to admit, I had to google Dole whip. I was picturing some long leather strap.:see_no_evil:
I am surprised that you had not heard of it, since it began at Disney, it’s a Florida thing. I only learned about it in the last year or two. It’s so popular that they have started to sell it in the ice cream aisle at the supermarkets all over the country. I’m sure it’s not as good as the real thing. I love pineapple, so my intention is to make it one day at home. Thanks for the party!
I’ve never been there. :person_shrugging:?
Me neither!
