A 50th birthday is a huge milestone! Today is Missy’s 50th birthday. Can you believe it?!

As you probably know, Missy is a tomato enthusiast. It doesn’t matter what kind, the size, or the color – Missy loves them all the same. On brand, today, we had a tomato themed birthday celebration with every tomato you can think of, a tomato “cupcake” I attempted yesterday, watermelon bowls (tomatoes, cabbage, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, snap peas), and drinks (sparking cider and mix of guava, pineapple, and watermelon).
The chimps absolutely loved it! Especially Missy. Check out the party video above!

Wow, Jenna, sounds like your tomato cupcakes were a hit — dinosaur growls all around, even Neggie, along with a thank you kiss! Cy seemed to enjoy them, too!

That was awesome!! LOL that tomato haul at 8:05 was hysterical. well, I can’t say that a tomato cupcake sounds appetizing, but wow, you sure got an awful lot of food grunts! thank you all so much. I loved every minute.

The Chimpanzees always seem to know when its a special occasion and the staff at NWCS go above and beyond. I really appreciate and look forward to the blogs videos and picture. The love at the facility is genuine heartfelt and undeniable.

In the past, I have wondered if they dont have some sort of internal clock…. like, when summer enters the warm days, does Foxie wonder, “when is watermelon bowl and extra smoothie day coming?” or Missy thinking, “isn’t it tomato time?” Annie’s next, with sunflowers!
Jenna, i loved the opening of the video. Those were beautiful heirloom tomatoes at that farmers market. Born in the South I know a good tomato is one where the juices run down your chin. And the watermelon too. George you are fitting right in wuth these party people.The lovely quiet of tomato slurping was relaxing. Thank you all for a great Missy birthday.
Happy Tomato Day, I mean Birthday, to dear Missy! Oh my goodness, that was the biggest tomato fest I have ever seen!! I’m guessing this year she broke the Tomato-Meter? The last heirloom tomato Missy was eating appeared to be as big as her beautiful head!! The tomato cupcakes were a huge hit with Cy, Neggie (kisses!), and the birthday girl. And to Kelsi and Katelyn, I just love that you traveled to your local farmers market so you could have your pick of WA finest tomatoes. You are too much!
May Missy always be young at heart.

Happy birthday to the tomato queen herself, Missy!!! It’s hard to believe that she’s 50 the way she runs, climbs, and swings. Missy truly makes the most of every day of sanctuary. My heart is just so full watching her and her family enjoy each day, made especially poignant by the fact that Missy very nearly didn’t make it to sanctuary in the first place. From the brink of death, to a syrong, savvy, athletic lady, Missy really is the perfect illustration of second chances.
