Mother’s Day 2025

May 11, 2025 by Diana 10 Comments

I have a lot of thoughts, but few words. It was a lovely day. Thanks to Katelyn today and staff and volunteers over the last few days who prepared the party in Jody’s honor and in honor of all moms.

This bowl and lilacs were for Jody, placed over her burial site:

Sometimes words are not necessary. I think your photo of the watermelon bowl surrounded by lilacs speaks volumes.

Thank you everyone for providing the chimps with this magnificently colorful celebration feast. I could definitely smell (and taste!) the watermelon and lilacs. What a lovely way to honor Jody.

For the occasion of Jody’s unofficial 50th birthday, I took my frame photograph of her on my Sunday goings-about. Oh, she is so beautiful,” a woman told me.

“I agree,” I replied. “I love her dearly.”

Besides the yummy pasta boats the chimps emjoy sometimes, the watermelon bowls filled with delicious fruits, veggies and flowers are my favorites. And when they are empty, the bowls themselves are edible. Thank you for giving Jody and all the chimps a lovely Mother’s Day.

Seeing Terry with watermelon all over his face, even up to his eyebrows, is almost as good as the corn on Neggie’s belly!
And speaking of Neggie, our queen found her spark! She wanted to make sure she got her lilacs, so she put it in gear, and got a move on! She had quite a bunch!
They have missed watermelon season. Terry was tossing the veg to the floor to get to it, and Foxie’s toes were going like mad on the platform, before she risked the rain for another bowl! I hope she got to keep it!
Thanks for naking the video for us–we like to see their parties almost as much as they love having them! Thanks to the staff and to whomever cut and brought all of the lilacs.
Hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day.

Oh Linda! Yes to everything you said. You pointed out everything I was enjoying. Neggie really was in rare form gathering her lilacs! It made my heart sing!! When I saw Foxie in the rain I cheered her on. Lilacs and watermelon bowls are worth suffering through inclement conditions. And Terry was over the moon with his watermelon. I imagined Jody, with that little twinkle in her eyes, right in the thick it with her arms loaded full of everything the day had offer.

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul. I know Jody would have eenjoyed today’s forage immensely. Her family sure did.
Happy birthday, Jody, and a happy mothers’ day to Jo, Foxie, Missy, Annie, and Neggie, the moms at CSNW.

It was a great party and a delight to join from afar! Love watching everyone celebrate the springtime treats in their own way. :confetti_ball:
