Rainy day fun!

March 21, 2025 by Krissy Brasfield

Today, the second day of spring, started out promising!  As Ellen and I were giving the cattle an early morning snack, the sun was starting to peek out from behind the clouds.  The sun’s rays felt nice and warm!  I was excited, anticipating a warm, sunny spring afternoon.  Chimps lounging in the greenhouses, and venturing outside.  When I gave Burrito access to his 2 acre outdoor habitat, Young’s Hill, he took off running!  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to join him but I promised I would do a perimeter run with him this afternoon.  Because, you know, it was going to be a sunny spring afternoon, right??

Well, I don’t know if it’s like this everywhere, but, spring in the Pacific Northwest is unpredictable.  Cue the rainfall.

So, what do the chimps do when it rains?

Some chimps like to curl up in a big, warm blanket nest (Negra).

Others like to spend time with a challenging enrichment item (Jamie).

Some prefer to watch their favorite movies and videos (Willy B).

Other chimps peruse the latest gossip magazines (Cy).

But, what do Burrito and Foxie do?

You’ll have to watch the video to find out!

p.s.  Don’t worry, Kelsi couldn’t deny Mr. Bubs a run around the hill in the misty drizzle this afternoon!  You’re a good sport, Kelsi!

Celebrating over a decade of friendship!
There was quite the variety of moves here- the Neggie head bump, the Foxie Spin Yourself Out and Away…we might need a JB Play by Play Breakdown of all the different moves! I did get nervous when I saw him try her own Motorcycle move on her only good ear!

Bubba looks like hesput on the weight you wanted him to gain, which would be a good thing.

And what was Cy’s movie du jour? every episode I see of Stanley Tucci doing the Allbirds dinner cards, I think of Cy!

It’s so lovely to see those happy faces and all that laughter. Never mind the rain…..we’re having lots of fun anyway. And they all get to choose their favourite things to do…..perfect!

These two never grow old! Like a couple of kids playing and laughing to their heart’s content. Rain schmain! Inside shenanigans are the best. The start of this had me laughing over Burrito’s chin bop to the forehead, and I didn’t stop chuckling until after the “nothing going here” looks at the very end. So glad you caught this rainy day shenanaganza!

I could watch this video all day. With with their sheer delight and exuberance, Foxie and Burrito just nailed it for bonding and hanging out together and to Hell with the rain. Fun, fun and more fun indoors.Mind you, in a crazy way I rather liked the thought of bubs having a different kind of fun on that misty drizzled hill, bless him.

Foxie and Burrito, could there even be a sillier duo than those two?!
Every single move was absolute gold! They always figure out new ways to be silly and have fun together!

May I post this link here for Cy? Stanley Tucci making marinara sauce.

    I hear it’s a very good recipe.
