We have a lot in common with the chimps, so this will come as no surprise when I tell you all that some chimps do not not like to have their photos taken. That may sound familiar because I think we all know the people who shine in front of a camera, while so many others loath getting their picture taken. This may also explain why you all see more photos captured of some chimps than others. Cy is very photogenic and never minds a photo shoot. Whereas Missy always seems to disappear when the camera comes out. However, today Missy did not mind letting me take a few portraits while she ate her onions from her forage. Often, when Missy does let us take her picture, she will politely turn away to let us know the portrait session is over. I say this is polite because most chimps try to poke the camera once they have decided the photo session is over, which I can not blame them for!
Please enjoy the Missy and Negra series of portraits and some bonus photos!

Thank you for the beautiful portraits-what a great way to end the day-seeing such geeat faces!
It’s a shame Missy is camera-shy considering that girl manages to look cool and confident in all of her photos!
I love to see Neggie on the structures outside. I also love that picture of Annie and Foxie forging. Annie looks so cute sitting on that stump.
What a lovely set of images! Missy especially is so photogenic! Always a treat to see Neggie and the ohers too!
Oh, I’m like Cy in preferring books to sports, but when it comes to cameras, I’m a Missy through and through!
I love that you guys consider every little moment of what sanctuary means to them, down to requesting permission to take photos!
Kelsi! You must be one of Missy’s favorites. She’s looking head on into the camera! What a treat to see these portraits and to be able to study Missy’s beautiful freckly face. Plus we get portraits of our Queen as well. Love! Annie on her perch with Foxie below, seriously delicious. The outside spaces look so lush and green this time of year. Why wouldn’t everybody want to be out and about absorbing the sunshine and foraging to their hearts delight??!
