Every ten second counts at the sanctuary. What was your favorite 10 second clip from the video? Isn’t it exciting to see Mave and Honey B outside??!! It still takes a little bit of drama for them to go out, but today Mave ventured out in between actual conflicts, which I think was a first!
You too can make ten seconds count by voting for the subject of Sue Cartwright’s next portrait in our poll (either by voting in the poll below, or if you don’t see it, vote here).
Vote now and vote again if you feel strongly about your choice.
Bonus points for letting us know if you have a particular photo that you’d like her to use as reference – let us know on our Contact Us form! Even bigger bonus points if you know of an artist who may want to make a donation to an upcoming fundraiser.

They are all worthy but, this time, Jody should be rhe subject.
Good for Mave! And HoneyB! And Willy B!
So proud of both of them….but man, how quickly did Beezus go from run-out-slap-a-boy-run-back-inside to casually strolling!? Amazing!
Big changes all around-Jamie and Bubba playing, and Bubba shadowing her like a boss in training ever since the summer of the snakes, Willie having a “story” to watch 24/7, and the ladies going outside! C’mon, Dora!
And I voted for dear, sweet Annie. She’s the prettiest chimp at CSNW, and low in rank, so she deserves something special.
I felt the same way and voted for sweet Annie.
I am so happy that there’s a Team Annie :two_hearts:
I voted for Lucky for the simple reason, no one has voted for her!
Queen Negra, please.
Maybe one of Jodi and Missy kissing in a previous blog just the other day. Or in the same blog the one Of Jodi and Negra. A combination painting. They are not on the list of options but perhaps they could be??
I don’t see Cy on the list ???
Hi, Paulette,
it’s because she has painted him before.
I had to laugh at Willy watching the surveillance camera monitor. He’s such a screen addict!
“Sanctuary is about making the most of the time we have. Every ten seconds makes a difference.”
Loved this line, Diana!! It brought such a big smile to my face. Honey B strolling on the grass is proof. Don’t blink, you’ll miss out on seeing something ordinary and yet amazing!
It seemed impossible for me to vote for just one chimp person. Just ONE?! Ugh! Sue Cartwright has an incredible way of truly capturing the essence of her subject—so much more than just a likeness, she lets you see the personality that shines through her subjects. Her dog portraits are so realistic I could reach out and hug each dog. Like her past paintings of the CSNW chimps, I know whoever she paints, the final piece will be priceless.
I voted for Missy. Missy was the very first chimpanzee to catch my eye and I had to keep coming back to the blog so I could see what she was up to amongst her six sidekicks. Plus, that little athletic bod of hers still makes me chuckle every time I see her. Missy hasn’t aged a bit in my eyes.
