Life of Enrichment and Giant Stuffed Dolphin Thanks!

December 13, 2023 by Kelsi

It felt fitting to have today’s blog be about enrichment! There are so many different ways to enrich the chimps lives! The video highlights a few of the many ways to add to the chimps day to day life. Thank you to Comfort & Joy auction winner Emily H. for the giant stuffed dolphin for Jamie’s group! We put it out on on Jamie’s side this morning!

Aahhhh…color copies of those bonobo book pages! Brilliant idea! Laminating and cutting off the sharp corners might be good, too (though they won’t tuck into a pelvic pocket as easily).

I love seeing Neggie’s Buddha belly shake with laughter, and Willy B’s unique descent: taking the stairs crutch walk, three at a time! Unique and almost as good as when Missy and Jamie slide down or climb up the stair rails!

    Thanks, Kelsi!

Chimps are way better at relationships than humans! Thanks to for your hard work and MERRY CHRISTMAS:christmas_tree:

Alas, we are the lowest of primates, and of creatures.

Note to self : Add a dozen wooden brushes to the Wish List. 😉

Thanks for enriching my evening, Kelsi! What a fun video. Foxie and Negra! Love seeing these two ladies cut up and have fun together. When they pulled themselves close together and stayed that way, my heart was fluttering it was so sweet. And then….Neggie serves up a (love) bite to Foxie’s arm and I was laughing out loud. I also enjoyed watching/hearing Annie groom Jamie (even if I was distracted by Foxie and Negra in the background).

Hope we will see some photos of the chimps interacting with the big, plush dolphin. Thank you Emily H.!

Looking at Neggie’s exuberant play face, I think of a paraphrase of John Lennon: “There are (play) faces I remember, some are gone, and some remain…”. Last Friday night, I attended the annual John Lennon tribute concert at the First Avenue club in downtown Minneapolis. Since I carry my photograph of Jody in my wallet wherever I go, during the playing of “In My Life”, I took the picture out and venerated it as the tribute played. “In my life, I love you more…”

You almost read my mind. my thought was “if that were Jamie, they’d be trying to get that from her ADAP!”:joy:

What a pant hoot and thankyou for sharing those amazing enrichment video clips. The chimps were having a ball and we humans can learn so much from them. No holding back, just sheer unfiltered joy and exuberance. Foxie and Negra’s play games were a joy to watch. I can’t wait to see what they get up to next, maybe a game with that giant dolphin.
