Photos from the Summer Vault

September 15, 2023 by Anna

As summer draws to a close I thought it would be a good day to dig through my phone for some unseen moments that I captured throughout these warmer months. Enjoy!

Lunchtime Annie:

Missy Magnified!

The Sunflowers that volunteered on Young’s Hill are still going strong. As the blooms start to go to seed, I imagine their days out there are numbered…

We were all admiring this photo of Negra as it really highlights her illustrious nose hairs.

“September was a thirty-days long goodbye to summer”

Could it be that Annie heard a bird outside chirping back to her in response to one of her bird songs? Oh, and the upclose details of Negra’s face — the arched brow, the polka-dotted freckles, her exquisite nasal hairs — are just the mark of exquisite perfection. How is it that the Sanctuary wound up with such beautiful, and absolutely endearing, residents?

Well, a picture is worth a thousand words and those shots of the chimps enjoying the lazy crazy days of Summer sure says it.
A bit sad about the sunflowers coming to an end, but then it’s the start of a new season with all its glory. The chimps will have a ball.

I wonder who the biggest sunflower fan is? I’ll be curious to see who gets to it first.
Of course, wonderful photos of three lovely ladies. The up close view of Neggie isn’t one we get often. She does have absolutely fabulous nose hairs 😉

My money is on Neggie, the Nightbag Queen!

I was also thinking Neggie! Although she’ll have to move fast before the birds get to all of the seeds. I remember being quite upset as a child upon finding that the birds had eaten the seeds from all of our sunflowers before I could get to them myself.

Some might say the best part of the sunflower is just beginning — the seeds! Hope we’ll be able to see the sunflower forage. It is hard to believe autumn is almost upon us. But that also means Jamieween is coming soon!

Thanks, Anna, for digging into your photos and pulling out these beauties. Negra’s is perfection!
