Running an organization with nearly a dozen staff and several dozen volunteers is a difficult task, but Jamie takes it all in stride. Enjoy this video of Jamie mobilizing all of the farm vehicles this afternoon.
Here are some bonus photos from this smokey day:

JB, thank you for this Saturday afternoon adventure with the chimps! It does my heart good to see them out & about in their habitats, and of course, seeing Jamie directing and running with the gator is always great fun. It’s so good that she’s been able to continue to reign over all things she desires. And, the added treat of seeing that Strawberry Shortcake got to go “walkabout”, too, is just icing on the cake!

It’s not summer without the drag racerrrr!!
Pity she can’t race you still on the downhill! Her favorite part!
I love that she knows you’ll do anything to make her happy, JB (short of chasing her with a chainsaw. Or giving her the keys. Or power tools.) How I wish she could have a vehicle of her own out there!

Much as I am always pleased to see Jamie and her next-door neighbors outside in their property, I worry about the air quality as seen on this video.
All day long I have been following the news about the fires near Spokane and in northern Canada… how I wish it would rain…

Love the video story. Really smoky today in Minneapolis, too.

Jamie is simply magnificent. I’m happy to see she’s enjoying her Lucy books. Jamie is a certainly a gal who knows what she wants. J.B., you make a great wing man! You had Jamie covered, all her desires met.
I will confess, I missed the revving of the engines, Jamie’s hand claps and jumps, and her lightning fast take off on the final stretch as she raced the Gator down the hill. Those were the days!
Hope your air quality improves.

I have a hunch that Jamie would like to be behind the wheel of the gator shouting YAHOO as she careens around Youngs Hill and further if she could. I can see her now!

“and further” When I said I wished she could have one of her own, I confess that pictured a Barbie jeep, and Jamie crashing the gates and going for a few hours’ joy ride!

I loved this video and once again it shows that no matter how hectic your schedule is, first and foremost, the chimps enrichment-and safety-is always at the front of.your minds. Jamie clearly had a ball, but golly I could almost smell the smoke from the wild fires. Do so hope that they will get under control soon. I take it that you have contingency procedures in case of an evacuation? Hopfully you won’t need to use them. Thanks again for sharing.

While we do own transport cages and a trailer, we have chosen to put our efforts into making the sanctuary a safest place possible to shelter during a wildfire, using fire-resistant building materials, a large defensible space, and wildfire sprinklers. Thankfully, there is no wildfire threat to the sanctuary currently, as the smoke is from fires in Canada and near the border in northern Washington.
Susan Kathleen Feeley says
Thanks, J. B. for that update. Stay safe and sound.

AMAZING, SIMPLY AMAZING! SOME DAYS I READ YOUR POSTS, BELATED OF COURSE, BUT IT STILL PUTS A SMILE ON MY FACE. THAT’S WHY I LIKE TO SEND YOU GUYS INTERESTING STUFF. A BOX OR TWO IS ON ITS WAY. I HOPE IT ALWAYS MEETS WITH YOUR APPROVAL. NOT THAT I WANT TO SEE IT ON SCREEN, BUT I’M SURE IF ITS NOT WORTHY, YOU WOULD LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU TO ALL THE GUYS AND GALS WHO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR THESE DESERVING CHIMPS, AND TO THINK OF US HUMANS TOO!
