Many thanks to Dylan Most for the “Happy summer solstice!” wishes and for sponsoring a day of sanctuary for the chimpanzees and bovines in celebration of the first day of summer here in the northern hemisphere!
We appreciate you always sending your kind and light-filled thoughts to all of us here at the sanctuary, Dylan. <3
Wherever you find yourself, may you all find beauty in your days. Happy summer! (Or winter, as the case may be!)

Hi, Katelyn! Lol, “today is not that day”! We’re glad it’s not.
Thank you, Dylan! Happy summer!
Haha, it’s just too good. 🙂
Yes! Happy summer solstice to everyone! one of my favorite days of the year. Thank you, Dylan, for sharing today with the sanctuary residents. And hugs to you, Katelyn, for all these sunny-joy-filled-smile-making photos, especially Jody’s.
Let’s celebrate the Sun Goddess! (And our very own Sun Queen too.)
Nothing like sun-filled chimpanzees to help steady our hearts. 🙂
We have a bright, sunny, HOT day starting down here in Texas…..pushing 102 today……keep the water handy……
That would have been more likely for us as well these past few years, but we’re having a peculiar stretch of cold weather lately, even near freezing overnight in a few places. But it’s pretty great PNW Mountain Chimpanzee (and many of their caregivers) weather. Stay safe down there.
Thanks for your sponsorship and caring, Dylan, and for these great pics, Katelyn. Ooooh, as a Texan by birth (Beaumont), I recall those high temps and am happy to be in WA State now, along with these fabulous chimps and their home sanctuary. Katelyn, many thanks for including a pic of Jody among these great shots. Her energies continue to grace the sanctuary in so many ways. I’m looking forward to the day the chimp-women indoors decide to go out to explore, but in the meantime, I’m very grateful that they live where there’s a choice they can make for themselves.
There has been a conviction at the most famous petting zoo. Sentencing in September
Is it that bogus tourist trap in Myrtle Beach, or was it the Tiger Tormentor?
South Carolina. indicted on both counts
GOOD! It is loathesome how the chimpanzees there are exploited for cheap entertainment. I wonder if that woman in Florida who keeps her chimp on a chain for the same reason has ever been stopped.
I don’t know of that one. I’ve been saving all my hate for this place! ::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
These photographs are a joy to behold! From the Sun Queen ti to the Barn Kitty, what a gift it is to see the images of those we love who live in and around the Bray and Young’s Hill. As always, the beauty of Jody’s essence illuminates her exterior.
And thank you, Missy, for standing atop the rock with two sunflowers to admire and devour…I’m sure that you reserved one for your dear friend Annie.
Happy Winter Solstice from Sydney, Australia! Your gorgeous collection of Summer Solstice photos warmed my heart.
Can’t say I’m not fair to middling envious of your heading into winter, Susan. 🙂
Susan….. You’ll have Beautiful Summer Pictures:rose::sun_with_face: here at the Sanctuary to keep you WARM AND TOASTY
Well, now, an AUSTRALIAN winter.might not be so bad! As long as it sends everything venomous and the drop bears on hiatus!
That’s Right……..Plant some Massive Hybrid Sunflowers with Colossal Seeds….Jody would have wanted it that way:grin::sunflower::sunflower::sunflower::sunflower::sunflower::sunflower::sunflower::sunflower:
