As Kelsi blogged yesterday, we are finally comfortable with giving both groups of chimpanzees access to their respective outdoor enclosures at the same time! Today we gave both groups access to Young’s Hill and The Bray first thing in the morning and things couldn’t be calmer out there.
Gordo and Rayne even chose to eat breakfast outside:
In other news, the chimps received a special guest visitor today. Former staff caregiver Sam is in town to visit some of her favorite people (human and non-human)!
Just a quick reminder! We’re still hiring. Check out our website for more details about the Full-Time Medical-Veterinary Assistant/Chimpanzee Caregiver position and don’t forget to share the post with your friends!

It’s really great to see 6 of the 9 so comfortable outside! Including Willy B walking on grass! It would be nice to see Mave, Dora and Honey B come out eventually, but at least they make it as far as the chute for now. And if they never decide to come any farther outside, that is their choice!

Hip hip hooray for the “no big deal” attitude on the Bray! So terrific! And I’m really enjoying the palling around between Rayne and Gordo on the Bray. Adventures are always more fun with a BFF.
Hope you have a fun visit, Sam. Must be very exciting to see both groups outside at the same time. (I bet Miss Luna is happy you’re in town too.) Any Gator rides with Jamie yet?!

Hi Sam!
Nice to see the Chimps getting outside and now being able to see their neighbors.
Just a wonderful thing to see the the residents just relaxing outside.
Many thanks to all the Caretakers!
God-bless you all!

Wow, Rayne truly is la reina del Bray! (queen of the Bray)
Sam, the Boss was really excited for you to visit! I can see those “get over here with those boots right now!” fingers waggling outside the mesh! And you “got” to go for a walk with her! Most awesome!

Hey, Anna, do you want to remind people that there are only 23 hours left to vote for CSNW in the Best in the PNW contest? 😉 Today and tomorrow, folks! Those of us who are far away can show some love for our chimpy people! (and the people people)
