Cheers to the Goofy Moments

January 26, 2023 by Grace

No two days of sanctuary are ever the same. When you spend your time caring for amazingly intelligent, complex, and witty individuals you never know what is going to come your way. Some moments are difficult and some are relaxed, but there’s little goofy moments sprinkled throughout them all.

Over the last few months I’ve been collecting as many of these moments as I can, but this is just a small snapshot since I had to mostly rely on the security cameras. Unfortunately, the odds of us having our phones out recording when we spray ourselves in the face with a hose (just an example) is slim to none.

At the end of the day, all moments of sanctuary (whether difficult, easy, or somewhere in between) are precious and are moments I wish could be captured for forever. I guess that’s one of the perks about having a daily blog- along with connecting with our amazing supporters, it gives us the opportunity to record in web-history moments from our days here. Thanks for that. 🙂

Beautiful, sweet Lucky:
Last night, staff and volunteers went out for dinner to celebrate Anthony’s tenure here. While not everyone was able to make it or is pictured in the photo, it’s always a special moment hanging out with everyone in the outside world:

Now THAT’s some (human) primate behavior! The middle section involving Katelyn trying to avoid an aerial assault from the Boss is laden with suspense! Will our heroine emerge unscathed? Will she remember her coursework from Central Washington U’s College of Primatology (“Airborne Excrement Avoidance 101”)? I assume that Jamie was reprising her Public Service Advertisement from 8.11.2017, further demonstrating why two primate species are not entirely suited to inhabit the same immediate environment.

A very enjoyable video of the residents of the Human Sanctuary Northwest. Fare Thee Well, Anthony…but don’t make yourself a stranger to Honey B, Honey Cow, and the Barn Kitty.

Brilliant! I wonder if the chimps appreciate the herculean efforts you make to attend to their needs every day? And the second sentence of the blog says it all really…..they must have had a puzzling time watching you all trying to eat those oranges……why are the humans having such difficulty with such an easy peasy task??? Never a dull moment. :hugging:

Wow, you never know what to exect and all these amazing residents sure keep everyone on their toes. It was laugh out funny watching the video clips but never forgetting that you are caring for these very precious lives and those lives are “in your hands”24/7. You all do such a fantastic job. I loved the group shot of you celebrating Anthony’s tenure with a dinner out and you looked like you were having a ball.Bless you.

That was so much fun, Grace (and I suspect some contributions from Anthony). And yes, the music was great. Chad, isn’t it nice to know that you provide your coworkers so much entertainment?! Maybe you guys should put some YakTrax or Stabilicers on the Christmas list for the commuters–cramponnez-vous!
And at least Foxie gives you warning before poking!
I hope there are more episodes to come!

I know the value of a great cup of coffee made to perfection so I applaud your many moves to get it to your point of destination:grin: ……I got to say there’s a lot of technique in the way that spit hit it’s Target and a lot of class it took not to spit back:grin:

Grace! Music, subject matter, everything really, so dang entertaining! But Chad, who is an amazingly good sport to allow you to post his Ice Capade scene (Seriously Chad you are!) steals the show. Cripes! I was laughing so hard I couldn’t read the captions. That was a scream! Bravo, Chad, for not spilling a drop of your Java and for not sliding all the way back down the driveway! I know exactly what that feels like, only I’ve gotten down on all fours.

    And Barn Kitty. Really?! Me-ooow.

Katelyn, what a gamble trying to get past Jamie. If you tried to wait her out, who would come out the winner? Perhaps when in that situation you need to text another caregiver to get Jamie’s favorite boot and book and lure her away.

Loved the group photo of all of you out on the town. Even a pooch in the mix! CSNW is truly an amazing place.

    Grace,
That was so funny! “CSNW’s Funniest Home Videos” was a perfect title. The music and commentary were spot-on. Chad had me laughing out loud, hilarious. Time for y’all to invest in some Yaktrax; they make walking across ice sooo much easier.

I bet y’all never dreamed as children that you wanted to grow up and get paid (or volunteer?!?) to be target practice for poo projectiles or water jets!

Great picture of amazing people. Sad to see Anthony leaving, but happy for him to be going to pursue another worthy endeavor and help many more animals. Wish him all the best in life, as I do all of you.

Thanks for the laughs, Grace., I sure needed some today and they tickled my funny bone!
