Find someone that looks at you the way Annie looks at Missy. But make sure you have separate hobbies or something like that because, to be honest, Annie can be a bit clingy at times.
Seriously, Annie is a completely different person than she was when she first arrived over 14 years ago. She’s far more confident and secure. And I would attribute that in large part to the thousands upon thousands of hours she has spent grooming with her best friend Missy.

I’m fortunate enough to have 2 BFFs like that…but we don’t groom each other! I’m very content, delighted, lucky and thankful to have that in my life, just like Missy and Annie. ?

All these years and Missy and Annie are still such close companions…..even with Annie being a little clingy. It is wonderful their friendship has endured. A dear friend can give you confidence and the strength to be your true self. Annie’s transformation has been amazing, proving how special Missy is.
I so enjoyed this close-up video. Missy’s eyes, eyelashes, and blinks. She is so lovely. I can see why Annie looks at her the way she does.
Thanks J.B.

the love between Annie and Missy is so evident. Their grooming session is one of the sweetest things I have seen, however, toward the end it looked liked Annie was getting a bit tired and seemed to be just fluffing Missy’s hair.

I spend a lot of time around orangutans who groom very slowly and painstakingly, paying careful attention to what may be lurking. Watching Annie and Missie, it looks more like tickling or touching in general. Do chimpanzees have a different grooming style, or is it just Annie and Missy’s way?

Do they grow thicker hair in the winter? Precious video grooming…

In the five years that I have followed the CSNW blog, I have noticed a change between Annie and Missy. Though they remain devoted to each other, now I have observed each of them socializing with other chimpanzees apart from each other. I used to never see Missy and Burrito play together, or Annie spending some alone time outside, but now that’s not uncommon. It seems as if, in the process of healing, Annie’s self-confidence has been allowed to mature. She might not be as anxiously dependent upon Missy, yet their bond endures. I know few people of any species who have their mutual devotion.

Such sweetness and patience and kindness they have for each other. The soothing and connection they must both feel during grooming must help both feel more confident and connected and safe. Ok, I know these words may be just a human’s projections! But still…I’m so glad they have each other and live in such a loving environment.

They’re both so beautiful, I’m so glad they have each other.
