October 32nd

November 1, 2021 by Anthony

So, about last night…

Jamieween isn’t officially over until the chimps say it is. Even though it’s now officially November 1st, they’re still enjoying themselves like its just another day of October.

For those of you who missed the original post or want to refresh your memory, I will simply link to yesterday’s blog entry by Sam: Jamieween 2021!

Today, we spent the morning cleaning up the disastrous mess that inevitably follows a house party of that caliber. It’s hard to describe the mess that sixteen chimps create when their caregivers prime their enclosures with a lavish excess of enrichment materials, but perhaps the following snapshots will allow you to imagine the scene: Pumpkin guts splattered on the walls, pistachio and peanut shells in heaps on the floor, a half-eaten Jack-O-Lantern, raffle tickets blowing around like tumbleweeds, and shiny new books about bonobos and mummies lovingly tucked into a blanket nest.

Enrichment Coordinator Chad helped me to collect some photos of the aftermath.

Happy October 32nd, everyone!!! Thanks for helping us make this Jamieween an exciting day (or series of days) for all the chimps!

You mean to say that those 16 merry makers haven’t tried to help with the clean up?? I have seen videos of several of them with a tub of soapy water and a scrub brush, also with a broom so I know they can do it..those rescals. I can see they had lots of fun and perhaps are to tired out today to help.
The pictures really tell the story, I really enjoyed them.

Wow!!! Those guys certainly know how to party. I wonder if they ever work out how their home is all clean and tidy again the next day? A Magic cleaning fairy must wave a wand while they peacefully sleep after such an exciting day. Thank you all very much for making it so special for them….you all go that extra mile to make it a day to remember. Looks like everyone had a fantastic time and I bet they slept well with full tummies and exciting gifts.

Wish I was there to help with the cleanup! weird to some I’m sure, but I actually like doing stuff like that. Of course my ulterior motive would be getting a live in person glimpse of those I love so much:heartbeat:

A big mess is a sign of a great party! Looking at these pics, the party was epic! :confetti_ball::tada: And the MOST EPIC parties last for days!! And by the looks of all the blankets nested up, some extra comfy sleep was needed afterwards. So much fun! I know the chimps had a fantastic time.

I got a big kick from yesterday’s and today’s blogs. Total enjoyment! Thank you for all of the pics, video, and telling us all about the party antics, for giving us a way to be a part of the party. I know dsily blogs, pics, and videos add a lot of extra work and I just want to say thank you for thinking of us. I most definitely appreciate all of you.

Reminds me of the frat parties which, of course, I did not attend.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d have thought it was the aftermath of a frat house-party.

Ouch! It looks like the opening scene of the movie The Hangover. The bigger the mess the better the party! I am surprised to see so much of the big pumpkin leftover. And still lots of tickets in good shape. Looks as if this party could last for another day or two! As far as clean up goes, I know Jamie and Honey B could easily manage the power hose….

Thanks Anthony for letting us see the aftermath scenes. Thanks for always going above and beyond to ensure 16 chimpanzees live the richest life possible.

Wow, wow, wow …that’s all I can say. What a mess. You made my day with those photos; …can’t remember when I laughed so hard during the past few years. I feel for all of you who have to clean that day-after party stuff up.

Compliments to Anthony for creating Ocotber 32nd! At first, I thought that it was a mistake, but, realized it was a, clever, reference to the extension of the party!
