1) HOOT! online bidding opened today. More items will be added throughout the week before the event, which will stream live one week from today, Saturday, September 18th at 6:00pm PT on Facebook and YouTube. Learn more and see the current auction items available for bidding now on the HOOT! auction site.
2) The Lucky Six aired two nights ago on NBC7 San Diego’s Down to Earth with Dagmar, and you can watch it online now! It’s in four parts, so be sure to watch each of the four videos in sequence.
3) You saw the video celebration of Annie’s birthday yesterday, and now you can see these bonus photos of Annie and others in her group thoroughly enjoying the celebration. It was raining during the forage, but, as J.B. said yesterday, that did not slow them down a bit (well, maybe Negra, who decided to find food under the cover of the greenhouse).

What a day! Great photos, great auction items, and a really good TV spot, IMO.

Wow, what an emotional news piece, no dry eyes here! I’m so thankful for this sanctuary you have created and to the team of amazing humans who work tirelessly to care for these beautiful animals! Wow, just an incredible journey, and im proud to be following along.
Can’t wait for the Hoot!

I am getting excited for HOOT! 2021! As always my favorite auction items are created by your talented artist supporters. Outstanding pieces once again this year, wow. And I am super excited to view “Down to Earth with Dagmar” as she reports on the Lucky Six. And… I was super duper excited to see all of these images from Annie’s party yesterday. Burrito sure looks happy with his fresh coconut. Hope Negra had a coconut too. And Jamie! Where’s Jamie?! She is usually spotted with the largest booty of all, I hope she enjoyed Annie’s celebration as well.
Thanks Diana for enlightening us about these three exciting things!

NBC7 really did a good job explaining a complicated subject. I’ve tried to explain the importance of Chimpanzee Sanctuaries to friends, and why I support them, and it’s tough to make them understand. Throw in Betsy the Bovine and I totally lose them.
As an adoptive mom (3x!) I have had to remind myself and family memembers that my children’s lives didn’t begin with the happy photos of their homecoming. It’s really important to preserve whatever history there is to tell the complete story of their lives. So I was thrilled- in a heartbroken way – to see video of baby Dora and the others, and to know their stories from the beginning. I visit the Last1000Chimps web site and look at the chimps whose names are “unknown,” who each have a personality and a history, but they are hidden away. They seem to have no past or future, and the lack of transparency is unacceptable.
Lastly, I really wish my children were young kids again, because I bet they’d love the coconut “juiceboxes.” Such a great idea!

Trust me, Betsy…on a hot day, a cold coconut water “juice box” NEVER gets old! Part of the charm is the coconut, the way drinking the piña colada from the pineapple just tastes better!
