They’re Here! They’re Here!

June 26, 2021 by Kelsi

Today was a wild and crazy day, but they are here. They are home! Words can not describe how excited we are to get to know Cy, Terry, Gordo, Lucky, Rayne, and Dora’s personalities more. For right now they are settling in well. I have to warn you, Cy is going to steal your heart, well Terry too. And maybe Lucky. Oh, Rayne and Gordo! Well, and then there is Dora. She might steal your heart too. We are so exhausted so us humans are going to go home and sleep!  We will share more tomorrow :).

Lucky was the first to go into the playroom. She so brave and after exploring Playroom 3 she ran straight out into Green House 3.

SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! What an amazing feeling of closure it must be for you, knowing that you just expanded the crazy by 1000%! The best part: you gave life to these babies–the life that selfish ignoramuses and stoopit-o-ramususes stole from them. See? I’m so angry and happy at the same time you got me making up words! 😀

I really would love to see some quick video from one of your night vision/security cameras as they build their woobie nests and bed down for the first night as free beings. I know you won’t be able to find your heads with both hands for another month, so kindly put it on a list for future viewing, maybe?

On behalf of the rest of us that can’t be there and totally wish we could, schlaft gut, and thank-you again for this beautiful sacrifice. <3

Yippee! They are home after their long journey. I am excited for all of you. Wow. New adventures are calling!

You are so right Kelsi, the Lucky 6 will steal my heart and I can’t wait!

  24. Tobin says

    June 26, 2021 at 8:53 pm

WOW! I didn’t expect the Half-dozen to arrive until later in the Summer! Fantastic! How lucky to have Lucky immediately take to the greenhouse. Rayne already looks like she has established her dominion; she bears more than a slight resemblance to Jamie. And speaking of resemblances, how are Terry and Mave going to be separately identified from now on? They look like twins.

I eagerly await more videos of their trip and arrival.

    • marianne says

      June 27, 2021 at 12:01 am

I had the same thoughts Tobin, the resemblance is amazing!!!
But Mave has that little black spot on her lip; that will help. I wonder if their backsides look alike aswell???

Yaaaaayyyy! So excited! Saw an Instagram post with a pic of their truck, and have kept coming back here for news of their arrival! This is wonderful, wonderful news! Independence Day for The Lucky Six. And I hope all 16 will love one another.

I hope you’ll be able to share more about the journey, and I can’t wait to to hear more of your first impressions of the Lucky 6 in their new homes. So glad it has worked out so well this far, you guys deserve it after all the hard work. Hallelujah!

I am totally surprised…don’t get Instagram and this was the first I learned that they were even enroute. . I am so happy for them…but OMG what a lot of extra work for all you caretakers. It will be exciting to see videos and photos of their reaction to so much freedom and so many choices. I feel sorry for the Chimps that were left behind and hope some other sanctuary will give them a permanent home as wonderful as
CSNW. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard on the construction and arrangements that brought these very lucky guys to a better life.

I used to volunteer and worked with them in their previous home. They have
absolutely gone to heaven at your sanctuary. They have gone from smaller individual
cement cages to a whole new, colorful, interesting and fun life! Thank you!!

  38. Marya says

    June 27, 2021 at 2:40 pm

How thrilling!! It makes me so happy to know they’re in their new forever home where teeny cages don’t exist. Each looks like an old soul just ready to share their energy and antics with the staff and other chimp people, and us out here in Blog land. I know the attempt to integrate them with the CA 3 might not occur for a while but I can’t recall if they “knew” each other before Mave, Willie B and Honey B came to WA. Godspeed in their entry into their new environment. Looking forward to this evolution!

    • Carla René says

      June 27, 2021 at 7:38 pm

Oh, Kay! What a FANTABULOUS idea!

Can’t you picture it?! The biggest auction item in *history* would undoubtedly be an item titled “Be a Chimpanzee for a Day!”

Right there in brown and ivory, is a ticket to everyone’s dreams, the opportunity of a lifetime, a win for a full day being a chimpanzee keeper!! Oh, I know it would be completely impossible because the chimps are like me and my Asperger’s–we don’t deal well with change or quick routine interruptions; we sometimes have a hard time getting hold of our emotions (not through any fault of our own, but because of the way our brains are hardwired); and the one most applicable here, social anxiety and trouble relating to people. So throwing a complete stranger in the mix and expecting them to automatically be okay with it would be an unrealistic expectation, not ro mention a nightmare for all involved, but MAN, OH, MAN! WHAT A FANTASTIC DREAM!! Wow. If only…then I have a feeling the final bid would be high enough to do enough additions to get the remainder from CA, as well as build each of them their own sanctuary!

      It could happen! <3 😀 <3

I can’t believe my heart can expand and hold so much love for our new 6 chimpanzee people who can now call the wonderful CSNW their forever home. I am so smitten already. What an incredibly exciting time. Thank you sanctuary staff and volunteers for all that you do.
