Thanksgiving Day 2020

November 26, 2020 by Anna

Today I am thankful for the chimps and the way they are a steady anchor of normalcy in the sea of chaos that is this strange year. For many of us, Thanksgiving might look a lot different this year.  For the chimpanzees, it looked just about exactly the way it always does. It was filled with FOOD! Wishing everyone a safe and joy filled holiday -from all of us at the sanctuary.

What a wonderful, joyful Thanksgiving. Happy faces and happy noises galore. Thank you all for making their day so special.

My first thought on seeing this is how sweet the chimps are as they’re enjoying their Thanksgiving feast. My next is how much care is given by the staff. There is so much work that goes into caring for them & I’m sure I don’t know the half of it. I’m giving thanks today for everyone who has helped give the lovely chimps a chance at feeling loved and maybe forgetting the fear that what was such a big part of their former lives. Bless you!??

It’s wonderful to listen and watch the whole clan enjoying themselves. How long did it take, if any, for the chimps to drink from cups?

    Hi, Anna!
Thanks for working today, and thanks for the long video with all of the grunts and squeaks!
I’m glad to see Neggie got some of her rolls!
What was the flat thing Mr B and Missy had? Field roast?
And Honey B liked hers so much, she couldn’t take her eyes off it!
I hope you all had some kind of celebration today, no matter how small.

This video is wonderful. I love seeing how happy the Chimps are. It makes me happy. They were so excited just seeing you bring the food to them and they enjoyed their Thanksgiving meal so much. Thank you for all you do for them. I am grateful for all of you. Happy Thanksgiving.

I appreciate Negra’s feasting method – seat yourself comfortably and grab everything within arms reach. I may or may not employ that method myself. Willy B clearly loved his paper boat of goodies, and the look on Maeve’s face was sheer happiness. Thank you for posting this, I’m so glad I was able to share Thanksgiving with all of you.

What a feast!! Loved everyone drinking with the little cups. What was the nights beverage? Seemed as if everyone went for those first, and the rolls second. : ) Negra was in biscuit heaven! And oh the music of their food squeaks and chirps as they waited to enter the greenhouse. Willy B, Honey B, and Mave seemed to enjoy everything on their plate without a hint of hesitation (as mentioned in yesterday’s blog) — but that might have been the magic of food served in a paper boat! Thanks for the video Anna, it was the perfect ending to my day.

Giving Thanks for all you do, everyday.
