Caught!

July 17, 2020 by Kelsi

When the humans are cleaning that is when the chimps have the most fun! Sometimes you will catch a glimpse of their play session and get the chance to capture it on film and often once they have noticed you noticed, they will stop. Luckily, for us Honey B and Mave kept on playing even when they noticed me watching them. If you have your volume on you will hear them breathy panting. Have a great weekend and stay safe!

I like Honey B’s Drag-Mave move! They appear to be such good friends, so lucky they each other to goof around with. I am assuming handsome Willy B is sunning outside on his platform or maybe he is on a sailing adventure in his boat.

Ah, the old toe-in-the-teeth move, countered by the blanket-over-the-head response. Classic wrestling!

I was very moved by the video on the NAPSA site, documenting the push to move the last 33 chimps from the Waystation. It was a beautiful video, and I loved seeing the familiar faces. I’m sure you all just can’t wait to get going on the next phase, and its good for me to be reminded that we all are a part of something very big. Please keep letting us know how things are going, and what we can do to help.

Hi Betsy, I was very moved by the video too, couldn’t help but feel chocked while watching. I received an email from American Anti-Vivisection Society on World Chimpanzee Day telling the story of the 32 chimpanzees still at Wildlife Waystation who are in desperate need of sanctuary homes. Seeing Mave, Honey B and Willy in this context brought tears to my eyes, especially seeing Willy B outside and Mave doing her boing-bounce move in the top of the chute. How fortunate these three chimps are! And I had no idea that Primarily Primates took in three of WW chimps too. The ending of video killed me, hit me straight in the heart by saying : “These chimps spent much of their lives meeting the needs of humans. Now it’s time WE take care of THEM”.

I am so grateful to the coalition (of which CSNW is a part of course). The urgency you feel is palpable.
