Wednesdays

April 29, 2020 by Kelsi

Wednesdays are kind of crazy days. Between cleaning, serving meals, walking with Jamie, feeding cattle, making sure the daily tasks are done, and it being a day we usually have our staff meeting. It’s a pretty packed day! However, for the chimps their Wednesdays are pretty relaxed. Especially today! For lunch the 7 enjoyed a forage on Young’s Hill. In the afternoon, Jamie and I were on a leisurely stroll and it seemed like everyone was out peacefully enjoying the Hill. As for the 3 they did have a chance to go onto the Hill, but no takers yet, one day! Honey B, Mave, and Willy B did enjoy their day grooming, playing chase with friends, and enjoying the warm spring air in the chute. This is my long apology for the blog being posted so late 🙂 Please enjoy these photos of the chimps!

In the morning everyone rushed out on to Young’s Hill, Negra included! The grass is so green it almost looks photo-shopped.

Negra:

Foxie carrying her Strawberry Shortcake:

Missy:

For the lunch forage, we scattered whole peppers, tomatoes, and beets all over the Hill.

Missy made sure to snag all the tomatoes (she also loves green bell peppers):

Negra was scoping out who she might be able to steal some forage from:

I love this photo of Jamie:

After the forage everyone went into the Green House to unwind.

Jody lounging with her spruce tree branches:

Foxie:

Well, almost everyone wanted to unwind.

The mischievous Burrito:

Also Willy B:

And if you stay late enough you can get a photo of Honey B in her nest:

Goodnight everyone!

Thanks, Kelsi! The clarity on that photo of Missy is amazing!
Who did Neggie wind up begging from?

    Such great pictures !
I was getting worried…. About Foxie when no new blogpost came.
Just too much time on my hands, my imagination running away with me.
Thanks for the update; she really looks like her happy self 🙂

Is there a plan to make an outside area for the 3 that is separate from the 7? Or has this already been done and they just don’t like the idea of outside :(.

Hi, Francoise! Hope the foot is doing better. There is a (smaller) area, but they still choose not to go, even though the staff has built boardwalks, so that they don’t have to touch the ground. If you look at Anthony’s post from a few days back “The Honey B Chonk”, you can see part of it, when she pushes the scooters down the stairs of the chute. Theyre being awfully coy about it, aren’t they?!

Thanks for the cute photos and descriptions of what was going on. Sure looked like
a great Chimp day foraging for food of “stealing” food from another pal.

RULE #1 : Never apologize for a blog being “late”. There is no such thing as “late”. Even if you missed a day, or two days, or more, there is no apology needed. Not ever. The fact that all of you take time away from the chimps to create a blog is amazing especially now, being short staffed, I have no idea how you manage even half of your responsibilities let a lone pull together such creative, photo packed, fun-filled-factoid-full posts! Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated more than words could ever express.

SO an extra big thanks for todays update and all the great photos….especially Honey B in her nighttime blanket nest right next the doorway (to serve as the night watch sentry no doubt). Hope you had a peaceful evening Kelsi, you’ve earned it. : ) xoxo
