You guys! I don’t want to jinx anything… But the sun is out, you can feel the warmth, and there were some really happy chimps! Fingers crossed this means spring is coming early. Please enjoy all these photos of the chimps basking in the sun.
Neggie took a small stroll:
Missy and Annie were sprinting all around the Hill, all day:
Burrito really enjoyed walking around with all the ladies:
I was able to capture a group action shot of almost everyone scattering onto the Hill in the morning when it first opened:
Jamie building her nest:
And modifying her blankets:
Mave grooming herself:
Honey B :
If your heart wasn’t melting before, it will be:
Honey B was just being so silly and funny. So funny that I would actually laugh out loud. She would be eating breakfast than suddenly roll around on a barrel and burst into a full sprint out into the Chute! She put her fanny pack on and press it up to the enclosure to have you look at it. She than would take it off and offer for her caregivers to wear it. Honey B just seemed to be in a really good mood. I thought I might share 🙂

These wonderful beings warm my heart.

Those pic’s of Honey B would make great Valentines cards !
Kelsi says
Yes CeeCee! That is a great idea!
Jane Hill says
You didn’t mention Foxie !! Where was Foxie ??
Kelsi says
Hi Jane! Don’t worry Foxie was out venturing the Hill with everyone. She is in the group photo. But Foxie, Jody, and Willy B were too busy for me to get a good camera shot.

Love your posts. Thank you for all you do!!!

I love the way all the red and pink objects around Honey B are reflecting on her face making her glow red. She must be feeling that sunny California feeling with the sun and warmer temps! Thanks for all the great photos, they brought sunshine into my heart.

Such sweet photos! Thanks for making me smile….

Sounds like Honey B had the zoomies. Almost looks like she was playing peek a boo-didn’t Deanna say she used to do that?
That group shot sure has a lot of joyful chimps! As always, the best thing is seeing Neggie getting out and climbing to enjoy soaking up those rays!
I read the other day that Chicago’s Lincoln Park zoo will be getting 2 new chimps, “former entertainers”,sounds like they took 2 from WW. The female in the pic, Susie, reminds me of someone here, but I haven’t figured out yet who.
Kelsi! I have a game idea for you! If you coud take the sound from old footage but not post images, or do new stuff(will take a while), see if we can identify the chimp by their food grunt or squeak! 😛

I always try to visit the Lincoln Park Zoo when I am in Chicago (a job keeps me in the People’s Republic of Minneapolis), but (“sigh”), I so wish that the great apes there had larger spaces in which to roam (and, in the case of the chimpanzees, places to withdraw to in order to avoid the idiot humans who pound on their glass!). And, by the way, it’s 2020 already: hasn’t the word got out that great apes should NOT be used in “entertainment”?
Linda C says
Tell yhat Myrtle Brach Safari and other places….yes, Lincoln Park suffers a fate similar to my place of work, and that is a lack of space. But I’m happy at least that they’ll survive in an accredited facility, and like you, hope for expansion (i I think they recently expanded the lions’ area). Stay warm!

I love these guys and gals but I identify the most with Negra. Seems like Miss Negra loves to lay around and at times it takes something really special to get her out of her nests.
Deanna says
I don’t know if this is what she was doing but it looks like Honey B was playing Peek a book with her hands in the last couple photos! Thank you for sharing! Makes me so happy!!

I I wondered, Deanna! Thanks for jumping in! So glad you’re still following them. That’s great news about Eli ane Susie! 31 more to go!
