Cleaning Up

February 21, 2020 by J.B.

Honey B, like many other sanctuary chimpanzees, enjoys cleaning. Last week, we did a “deep clean” of one of her indoor enclosures and spent time scrubbing the track to the door that leads to the upstairs play area. Honey B watched us intently and later decided that the door track needed just a bit more work.

Oh, sweet Honey B, nothing more satisfying that giving your home a good scrubbing.

I just saw this video over in you tube and was so amazed how smart Honey B and the other chimps are. I’m sure Honey B just by watching her humans clean knew what to do, even going up high where you might have missed. Also, love how she scoots around. Maybe one day will see her trying a skateboard.

Honey B…My heart…w o w…My heart…This sweet footage gives a whole new meaning to the word, “endearing”…I feel like a puddle of mush…

    Wonderful video!
Question: Does soap not taste horrible to chimps, as it does to us?

They seem to like it. Not sure if it’s because of the taste or the sensation of the bubbles. They definitely taste bitterness, because we have a difficult time giving them certain medications, but “soapiness” doesn’t seem to phase them at all.

Thanks for the response. So interesting!

Oh! Come over to my place Honey B!

How much does she charge per hour?

Wow, she keeps reminding me so much of Jamie,
Like when Jamie watched you fix a hole in the wall, and then imitated you sanding it down after you were done….. Cause you know, you missed a spot. So funny, it must be a smarty pants chimp thing 🙂

Honey B’s intense cleaning definitely puts me to shame. I can almost hear Honey B saying: “And that’s the way it’s done”.

As the old saying goes, if you want a job done right, do it yourself (or something like that!). I’m with CeeCee, it’s gotta be a smarty pants chimp thing, just like Jamie pants.
