The one with all the Noise

January 29, 2020 by Kelsi

It has finally settled down in the Chimp House. There was a lot of commotion today. Nothing bad, but a lot of talking between walls. Willy B spent a lot of time in the Chute. This always makes the 6 ladies excited. They will scream, hoot, watch the 3 chimps in the chute with extreme focus, and try to make sure Willy B sees them. We found Willy B and Burrito head nodding towards each other a lot too, which was nice to see. Eventually, everyone on both sides calmed down and the rest of the afternoon there have just been piles of chimps grooming with each other.

Sometimes I cannot get over how handsome Willy B is:

Foxie and Burrito grooming by the window so they don’t miss anything happening by the Chute:

Well what girl in their right mind wouldn’t hoot at Willy B!!!

Happy you’re able to keep up with them!
He is indeed a handsome dude!

Linda, I saw your reply regarding Western Michigan. Did you by chance take any classes in the Behavior Science department? My friend, Richard Malott, has just recently retired after teaching there for 53 years.

I wish I had, Tobin. I did a double major in 2 languages. I tried using my general ed classes to put something “practical”, something that would “get me job” with them, but unfortunately, I limited my Gen Ed options by doing them with Honors College (wasted, because I never wrote the Honors thesis). I probably would have loved Anthropology or Animal Behavior (I have a colleague in Bio who’s a behaviorist, but her big thing is bugs)

Thanks to you I have a photo of Willy B on the wall in my office. He has a look of great dignity, yet I can see that he is a rock star. I’m smitten. I’m glad he has a safe home, and lots to occupy his busy mind.

Willy B is like old time black and white movie star handsome, like a Cary Grant handsome. And I agree with Deanna and Jo Lathrop’s comments, both made me smile. I am a sucker for Burrito and Willy B. And isn’t great that both boys pay each their respect with head nods. I bet they are thinking “Aren’t we lucky”, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Lol, that’s funny, Kathleen….in my head, I’d imagined it like 2 bros just recognizing!

I must say… the six ladies have impeccable taste in men. That Willy B is definitely a “handsome Harry”, as my mom (RIP) would always say when she’d see a debonaire gentleman. 🙂

My sister gave me a CSNW calendar for my birthday. Needless to say I am in love with all of them as well as the bovines.
