A springy winter day

January 27, 2020 by Katelyn

The days are dawning earlier and there has even been tentative birdsong in the early morning air and though the wild winter card of February stills lies ahead, we’re all more than happy to take a springy winter day in the midst of it. It was sunny, slick and super icy this morning, but after a few hours the sun actually felt warm on our faces and the six ladies were anxious to head outside. They walked, ran, climbed, and explored to their hearts’ content for a few hours, I imagine thrilled to be relatively unimpeded by snow. The humans, as well. 😉

Annie, Jamie, Missy, Foxie:

Jamie, Missy, Annie, Jody, Foxie:

Annie and yes! That’s Negra!!

Annie:

Foxie:

Jamie and her lustrous locks:

On the other side of the building, Mave, Honey B and Willy B enjoyed sun-filled home and time in the fresh air screeching at the girls from afar, so I’d say it was a good day for all. Everyone’s tucked in cozy after a busy day for all enjoying the adventurous outdoors (with the exception of Burrito, who continues to recover nicely and is just oh-so-close!). It’s back to pouring rain with more snow in the forecast so this human is scurrying home. Happy evening to you all and hope your day contained whatever it is that lifts your spirit.

What beautiful girls. I love hearing of their everyday activities so much. I hope I can be one of the donors to visit the sanctuary this summer, it would be an amazing experience.

      Hi Harley,
Summer will be here before we know it, really! Hope to see you. 🙂

As it happens, Katelyn, my day did contain a thing that lifts my spirits: this post of yours with so many fantastic pictures! Thank you! Now scurry away with caution in this unpredictable weather. 😉

Sherry, the chimps have a way of doing that for us all I think. 🙂

What a day! The Girl Gang on patrol (are they going counter clockwise? Ha ha!), Annie marching bipedally (of course!) with arms swinging and (drum roll please…..) NEGRA! Making a happy evening for me. Hope we see Mr. B outside soon. And maybe seeing the Girl Gang outside will soon inspire/encourage Mave, Honey B, and Willy B to head out and enjoy the wonders Cle Elum, WA has to offer.

Kathleen, it does indeed look like they’re going counterclockwise! With the Boss in the lead…maybe the screeching of the Californians had them going over to that side first, to check that out.

      Hi Kathleen,
Just when we were saying Jamie NEVER goes counter clockwise, of course, she does! They do tend to head that way first in an attempt to see if Mave, Honey B, and Willy B are in the chute. They aren’t often out there at the same time, but the three can see the girls from inside and always have a lot to say about it which the girls can hear.

Lol, “That’s right! We bad!” (Extra points if you’re old enough to get that without googling!)

Hope you made it home safely, Katelyn. I was explaining to one of our Fulbrights Saturday, as we drove back from Boston in the rain, that since we’ve been so spoiled this winter that February is more than ever going to be a winter wild card here, too!] Plus something funky around spring break.
It seems like the Tiny One is moving about more often without her dolls?
I, too, am thrilled to see Neggie out, about, and climbing (and it looks like a pink-haired friend, perhaps abandoned, is keeping her company).

Thanks, Linda! After such a nice day, it was an unexpected doozy of a drive home with that vortex effect of heavy swirling snow. We’re back to fog and snow this morning, which at least Burrito is happy about. Surprised you’re having a milder winter back there!
Fox does seem to leave her dolls inside more often at times. With the snow and mud she has to pick her way through which may be some of it. But only she knows. 🙂

During my 4 yrs of “The Commute” in WI, (1 3/4 hr each way, 2x/wk), I remember driving in snow after nightfall, when the flakes came hurtling at your windshield out of the black night, making you feel as though you were in a Star Wars movie, ready to leap into hyperspace!
