I wanted to share a small moment I had with Jamie. The other day I found Jamie cozy in a nest. She had big comfy blankets all around her and a few boots in her pelvic pocket. If you look closely you can see one of the boots tucked in. I asked Jamie if she would like a few of her boot books from Christmas. It was a very peaceful moment. Jamie politely took the boot books and started flipping through the pages. As Jamie read her books, I groomed her shoulder with a tool. It was nice to see Jamie feel so content.
Jamie is known to be fierce, super intelligent, sometimes intimidating, and quite crafty. Jamie is all of those! But, there is a side of Jamie people don’t always get to see. Like how she can be sweet, silly, and actually a very good friend. Jamie, since Burrito’s injuries has been a great friend to him. To me at least it seems like she has really been looking out for Burrito.
Everyone, except Negra, went on the first morning patrol. I found Jamie and Foxie were always staying close to Burrito as they walked around the Hill.

Thank you , a Jamie story always brightens my day.
I think I love her so much partly because she is so complicated.
and to quote the great Tina Fey “Bitches get things done” I think she was referring to herself
and Hilary Clinton, But I think it applies to bossy Jamie as well 🙂
You Rock Jamie !

It is heartening to read about the chimpanzees caring for each other, as Jamie and Foxie, et al have been so attentive to Burrito since his injury. Meanwhile, I hope that Young’s Hill can be covered in snow soon…Burrito and his friends could do with a treat.

Nice to see the ladies taking such good care of Mr. B.

Thanks for pointing out Jamie’s softer caring side. Burrito is a lucky boy. But I’m not surprised that Jamie has this soft, loyal side. Like many strong women, she’s not all brains, there’s a big kind heart in there too. I always wonder how cool Jamie would have been if she were born into the wild as she should have been. Something tells me she would have become a respected female leader in her community. Hummm….Now that I write this I guess Jamie IS a respected female leader after all, just within her sanctuary group. : )

I love reading about all the CSNW chimps, but sometimes I just really really need a blog post devoted to Jamie. Thank you for providing one, Kelsi! 🙂

My oldest daughter’s name is Jami. She’s also a little bossy but has a softer side, so I love the Jamie stories. Also, my youngest daughter’s name is Kelsey. So thank you, Kelsi, for writing about Jamie 🙂

Looks like Jamie has picked out her new boots? Great to see Burrito out on the hill with his girls again. Greetings to all the Chimps and caregivers for a great New Year from Australia 🙂

I LOVE reading anything about Jamie. She always amazes me with her intelligence. I talk about all the chimps to anyone who listens and find I mostly tell stories about Jamie because they are the most amusing and amazing.

The chimps are so intriguing to me, everything about them is amazing! I do believe much of Burritos recovery was due to the love and support of the girls.
