Sleep, groom, patrol, & repeat

December 6, 2019 by Kelsi

Today was a busy day in the chimp house. J.B. was working out on Young’s Hill, we had a full house of hard working volunteers, and lots of training! However, the chimps had a nice relaxing Friday. There was a lot of grooming, small games of chase, & napping.

A grooming train of Honey B grooming Willy B and Mave grooming Willy:

Mave than moved onto just grooming Honey B:

The handsome Willy B:

Willy B is just gorgeous. That last photo is my new favorite of that handsome fellow — he oozes charm! No wonder the ladies line up to groom him.

Guess I must REALLY be physically & emotionally “spent”, as for a few minutes, I actually thought Miss Honey B was taking this grooming session of the “big Guy” to a new degree of thoroughness by “picking his nose”, Willy B, looked so calm & relaxed as if he were actually enjoying it…
    Oh…I guess I really do need sleep…but it’s f r e e z I n g here in the Midwest & the thermostat is not working to its fullest potential…The blankets & quilts are so heavy I can hardly move… HaHaHa

Hope everyone has a truly enjoyable weekend…Bless you all, & that includes the loyal & loving commenters….. : )

Hi Cee Cee…I know what you mean about seeing Queen Neggie so playful…I seem to feel a little “ping” in my heart whenever I see her up from her comfy nests & interacting so closely with her old friends…That playfulness was so very endearing….

Who started the attack on Burrito? Willy B, or Burrito’s girls ?

“Burrito’s girls” weren’t with them when it happened. It was only Honey B,Mave, and Willie B, Burrito and Negra. They don’t know or are not telling who started it, but pretty much everyone was involved except for Negra bythe time they got to him. Just as when a fight broke out before, and the girl gang was on Willie B, this time, Willie B’s friends, who have known him for years and years, backed him up against Burrito. Even the amazing Mave, I guess. Old alliances die hard .

Have the bovines been recruited on Jamie’s patrols for outside-the-perimeter reconnaissance? LOL

Willy B is one well-groomed gentleman. No wonder all the girls are vying for his attention!

I hope that the newcomers have had the chance to touch and taste what snow has blanketed the sanctuary thus far. Indeed, I hope that their curiosity will entice them to explore Young’s Hill.
