On to the Next One!

October 9, 2019 by Kelsi

We have made progress with our introductions. As of today, Jamie and Negra are now with Willy B, Mave, Honey B, Jody, Missy, Annie! The introduction has gone very well so far! Mave greeted Jamie and Negra with a warm embrace. Honey B partook in welcoming the girls in too. But Jamie and Mave really seem to be hitting it off! Mave has done a wonderful job defusing situations. For example, all the girls were screaming at Willy B who was in the green house. Mave shuffled the girls back into the playroom and then went to reassure Willy B. Jamie and Willy B seem to be fond of each other. However, individuals have been interrupting them once they finally get a moment alone! We don’t have a lot of photos or video because it is important that the humans not be involved or around too much while the group continues to build strong relationships. We are preparing a video from the introduction today! We are sorry for the delay, but the chimps and humans are very tired. As for future plans, if the 8 stay fairly stable our next step is to get Foxie and Burrito integrated soon and make it a group of 10!

In the meantime I hope you all enjoy these photos of Missy grooming Willy B this morning before the introductions started:

    How exciting!
Thanks so much for keeping us updated.
    I’ve been worried about Jamie,
I should have known she would make it all work out 🙂
And what a Treasure little Mave is turning out to be.
    Yeah !!

Yes, I was concerned for both Jamie and Negra. Jamie because she was the leader of the 7 and Negra, because she is more reserved. I’m so happy that it seems to be going smoothly.

I absolutely love watching the progress and some of the silliness of these wonderful chimps. Love learning about their individual personalities. The introductions are exciting to watch Thank you for all of your hard work, but it must be very fulfilling.

Wow. Mave just keeps getting better and better. If he other 9 like her as much as we humans do, the only fights may be who gets to hang out with Marvelous Mave

      Right?!
And yet, I see them all grooming Willy B….who’s grooming Mave?
That woman deserves a little diluted champagne….what a gem!

I love watching the chimps grow together! And Willie B, he has his harem alright!!
Yes, thank you for keeping us up to date, but be sure to take time for yourselves too.

I totally understand (or can only imagine I understand) how exhausted you humans must be — mentally and physically. I am enjoying watching the introductions slowly rolling out. Time is your side! Thrilled Negra and Jamie slipped right in to the mix. I didn’t see this coming and had no idea who you were going introduce next and I wouldn’t have guessed Jamie and Negra. The Boss and the Queen, interesting.

I keep seeing photos of the ladies grooming handsome Willy B as if he were King. Does he groom back or is he just drinking in all the attention for now situating himself in a top ranking position?

I hope everyone, staff and chimps, get a solid good nights sleep. Sweet dreams to you all. XOXO

Didn’t think I could love her more! I will be doing another blog post about Mave soon, since the magnitude of her greatness could not fit into the last post alone 🙂

As I read, “Mave greeted Jamie and Negra with a warm embrace,” I burst into tears…How I wish I could have witnessed this purely magical & tender moment in time…I bet once Burrito & Foxie are reunited with their old friends, they’ll be so happy to see one another again that any initial conflicts will quickly be diffused…I simply cannot get the image of Foxie trying to be her bravest while Mr. B tried his absolute darnedest to get a good look at these interesting chimp intruders through the Howdy Door while he stood on the white plastic “log,” & then decided it might be easier or more fun to “spy” on them while he tried peeking UNDER the door…Oh, what happy days…HAPPY DAYS, indeed…Love & hugs to all you beautiful, patient & loving folks at CSN…

Oh how I love these updates! You humans (lol!) allow these beautiful Chimpanzees fill my heart with joy and suspense every evening. I cannot wait for some video!! Mave is such a wonderful Chimp and a progressive mediator. Willie B is so handsome and well mannered for a dominant chimp. It’s almost like he has some swagger that makes all the women want to groom him ?
I just hope Burrito doesn’t get to jealous!

Just seeing WillB, honeyb and Mave make the long journey to the Sanctuary was so wonderful especially after quanintine finally getting to know Burrito, Jamie, Jody, Negra, Foxie, Missy Honey B’ daughter and my mind just went blank and forgot the missing one.

I sure hope the three eventually all get along after they get to know each other

Have you ever thought of getting a younger chimp about 2 or 3 years old? Or is that in possible. It seems but what do I know that the females would be great with them.

We are so fortunate to have you Diana as the very dedicated/evolved/passionate individual to share the behavioral interactions and social development of your “troop.”

In my small world and vision thereof, we have very few opportunities to study/share theses very special memories of our dearest cousins “coming back to life”……as the song goes.

Thank you so much on behalf of all who can appreciate this gift from you to our species, so in need of your kindness and compassionate ways you offer these sentient beings so very close to us in so many ways.

Tension and anxiety can certainly exhaust one and I feel for all of you caretakers who have been involved in this months-long introduction of the 3 new to the old 7. Marvelous Mother Mauve has certainly increased the members of her fan club–what unique peacemaking qualities

I’m more worried about how it will go with Willy B and Burrito since there both males that may be a big hurdle.

It will be interesting to see how Willy B and Burrito get along once they meet each other.

The chimps must be highly intelligent to become close to new chimps easily. Think how long it takes
some of us humans. I am impressed. That must be so special to actually see it all play out. They seem
sooooo happy. Our goal in life – happiness for all living beings.
