We are still getting to know the slightly reserved Willy B, but these last few days he has really started to loosen up and show us his silly side. In case you don’t follow us on Facebook/Instagram, you might have missed this pretty amazing video of him and a slinky.
Before the new chimpanzees moved in, we installed closed circuit video cameras in the Phase 1 Building so we could spy on the chimps’ activities. This morning we were watching Willy B’s wild slinky antics on the television in the foyer. Willy B was upstairs in the mezzanine whipping the slinky back and forth between his legs and JB was working close by with his back turned to the caging. Every time JB turned around to see the what the noise was about, Willy B played it cool and stopped his game. We see you Mr. Willy B and we can’t get enough!

What a handsome handsome boy he is! Can’t wait to watch more about him! Hopefully Burrito will have a buddy!

Ah, yet further proof that apes are incomparably more advanced than human primates: Willy B. Willoughby demonstrates the proper way to play with a slinky, and to keep the threads from getting tangled up. If only I had known at age 8 what Willy so deftly maneuvers in the preceding video…

Oh Tobin, I so love your brilliant comments. Thanks for the laugh. I am in full agreement with you on this one. Who knew you could have so much fun with a Slinky, and as you pointed out, not get it too tangled up no less!

Okay, seriously speaking here amongst friends, while I ADORE Burrito and think he is THE most adorable and charming sweetheart I have ever, ever seen (because he is)….. and while he is THE Slinky Guru as well, I gotta say that Willy B has some kick a– moves with that rainbow slinky. I mean Burrito loves to hold a good ol’ slinky in his mouth but Willy B is actually dancing with the slinky and you have to admit, that is some fancy footwork! I am laughing so hard I am crying over that post on Instagram. For some reason I missed that one. Willy B is like the Cary Grant of the chimp world (and yes, the whole Cary Grant reference totally dated me!).

I’m so anxious to see how they get along with “The Seven” most especially Mother and Daughter, and Burrito and Willy B. I hope they all chatter and laugh and hug, I can’t wait! ??????

Hi, Anna!
Thanks for posting the link for those of us not on FB or Instagram!
That’s some smooth passing! Lol, why juggle your toy with two hands, when you’ve got 4 thumbs?!
Mave seems to like that toy, too. How many of those will you go through a year? I can’t wait til they have even more options!
I had a little moment last week in Target. I had to go over the bridges and while I was in the store, thought I’d check on Dora’s availability, since I never seem to have any luck finding these toys in person. I turned a corner, and at the end of the aisle, on their own…..2 medium trolls! I was thrilled! They have gens in their bellybuttons that will probably have to be popped out, but glorious trolls they are!

That is hilarious that he would play it cool when J.B. would look….Willy B. is pretty special; all three new members of the sanctuary have already started to capture my heart. 🙂
