We all know how beautiful Jody is, as are each of the chimpanzees of course, but it never hurts to take the time to appreciate her:

What has happened to the elk named “Ellie” since she was relocated? How is she doing?
Hi Diane,
Thanks for asking about Ellie/Buttons! I recently shared a couple of links in the comments from a recent post where you can learn more about how she’s doing. If you scroll through the comments you’ll see them: http://wordpress-506039-1693250.cloudwaysapps.com/2019/05/the-tapestry-of-sanctuary-48828/#comments 🙂
Diane, they just linked us to an update either yesterday or two days ago. I’ll try to find it for you, but the video is from Buttonwood Zoo.
Ellie ended up in a zoo?! Oh dear. Another animal robbed of its freedom. Sad, even if it is okay for her.
Was so happy to see the video of Ellie at the zoo. She seems to be ok from what I could see from the short video. She’s had so many readjustments — so unfair to her. I hope she is happy there but I think she was probably much happier with all you caretakers and the chimps
Jody IS beautiful. She has such a sweet, kindhearted face. Love the photo!
And I am so excited to see the video on Ellie-Buttons. I too have wondering how she was making out. It appears as if she just might be settling into her new home. Time will tell. I hope with all my heart Woodland Park Zoo works out for Ellie.
I found Ellie’s video on YouTube too (I couldn’t get it to play in the comments of the blog for some crazy reason) Here is the link : https://youtu.be/PJx6owR5H6A
Is this Woodland Park Zoo outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado? If so, I think it might be around Santa’s Workshop. I hope so, as that isn’t too far from where we live in Kansas. Thank you ever so much for your assistance with my inquiry!
Hi Beth,
Woodland Park Zoo where she lives is in Seattle. Thanks for asking!
It’s amazing that Ellie survived as a youngster on her own, in the first place….given that she couldn’t run free because she was a bit of a nuisance to some, I think being with human caregivers at the zoo but having space to move around is probably the closest she can get to ideal (other than being back in the mountains, which DEM isn’t going to do).
What a great portrait of my dear pal, Jody Chimpanzee. Perhaps, somehow, she would take an interest in seeing her visage. The picture looks like an author’s photograph on the jacket of a book; given her profession, I can envision Jody as the author of a book entitled, “Wildflowers to Grow and Eat.”
Those EYES!! What a beautiful lady!!
