Glacial archaeology

January 16, 2019 by Anna

Last week melted the majority of the snow covering the sanctuary, but we’ve had a couple of cold and dry days this week. The chimps seem unfazed by the drop in temperature and have still been eager to explore Young’s Hill each morning (albeit at a slightly faster pace). As the chimpanzees wrapped up their morning adventures, Foxie uncovered a lone Strawberry Shortcake doll that must have spent a great deal of this winter covered in snow. Being the responsible doll owner that she is, she gingerly took her buried treasure back to the warm playroom to thaw out.

I’m guessing that doll will be put right with a nice hot bath in the kitchen sink! “D
Once again, Jody was braving the cold to keep her company!
    Thanks for sharing their photos!
Since we haven’t had any major snow yet this year (just the cold that’s now arriving), I need to make like Foxie and get outside more!

After just watching “Day The Dinosaurs Died” on PBS NOVA, seeing this post totally cracked me up. Until now I was unaware of Foxie’s archeological skills. An intact Strawberry Shortcake dollosaurs, what a find!

Well, we’re not sure if she’s discovered the Strawberry Shortcake dollosaurus, or the related dollarsaurus, Blueberry Muffinsaurus. 😀
