We have two wonderful people to celebrate today! The first is Missy!! Unbelievably, Missy turns 42 today and naturally that means party in the chimp house! Ramona Isbell kindly sponsored this special day wishing Missy “a wonderful day with her playmates.”
Ramona, thank you so very much for thinking of Missy and wanting to celebrate her on her special day! It means so much to us all.
Missy. She’s a loyal, courageous, beautiful person and she’s got her friends’ backs no questions asked. She’s brave and daring and a bit of a thug. She is mother to Honey B and Josh (who reside at Wildlife Waystation in California), best friend to Annie, and trusted backup to boss lady, Jamie. She is an athlete extraordinaire and loves nothing more than spending her days zipping, zooming, swinging, tight-rope walking and tumbling around for the sheer joy of it and she thinks tomatoes are the.best.thing.ever. She never hesitates to use her “medical expertise” to doctor her families or her own wounds and she sometimes puts on socks when she’s ready for some serious games. Despite all she’s been through and endured, Missy is the kind of person who opens the door to life and runs toward it, arms open. And when I watch her my heart is zooming right alongside her, I love her so.
Beloved Missy, happiest of birthdays yet to you!! We could not have more love and admiration for you and we can’t wait to celebrate all the amazingness and beauty that is you.
Stay tuned for Missy’s tomato lovin’ festivities and our second Sponsor a Day!

“Missy is the kind of person who opens the door to life and runs toward it, arms open.” This rushed tears to my eyes. What a beautiful tribute Katelyn! After all she has seen, experienced and survived, it touches to my core to see her full-tilt-boogie energy and zest for life! I hold such admiration for this adorable energetic girl!
To Missy, you are ingrained deep within my heart. I wish you THE most wonderful birthday and I hope you celebrate yourself all year long! I would say “Make a Wish” but I believe coming to CSNW was your wish come true. Happy Birthday Missy! Sending you all my LOVE. (Can’t wait to see your celebration. Funny how your birthday lands smack dab in the middle of the best month for ripe tomatoes!). XOXOXOXO

That’s right Kathleen! You’re going to chopping and slicing and carving and who knows what else all day. But who would not do anything for as long as needed, and more, for Missy.

I love seeing pictures of Missy running through sanctuary grounds and climbing up the fire hoses. An athlete of her agility and stamina deserves her own visage on a Wheaties box. I wish a happy, tomato-filled birthday to my favorite action-adventure movie star (fun fact: in “Don’t Let Go, Missy” and other videos, Missy does all of her own stunts).
Arlene and Michael says
Happy Birthday dear sweet Missy:). Love you.
Holly says
Love the photos of Missy!! Interestingly, each of the pictures of her in full motion have her right hand ‘planted’, must be her dominate hand or just a coincidence.
Wish I could ship tomatos to you (thinking US Ag department wouldn’t like it),,,, I put in way tooooooo many plants and now have to come up with ways to use them. lol
Thanks so much for making up for what these individuals suffered through, or at least trying!
Truly special people work/volunteer at the sanctuary!!!!

Hi Holly,
Missy thinks there’s no such thing as too many tomatoes so she would definitely help you out if you were here. 😉

Do either her feet or hands ever hit the ground?…well maybe one hand! 🙂 She is pure joy in action…even in photos you can see her true zest for life now that she’s in sanctuary. She truly is making up for lost time and not wasting a moment of it!
This was a lovely birthday tribute to dear Missy! Happy everyday Missy! You are dearly loved!
