The Elusive Jody Chimpanzee

January 22, 2017 by Keri

Out of all of the chimpanzees here at the sanctuary, Jody is the most elusive (especially when it comes to us taking photos of her). So, when the opportunity presents itself, we try to take it.

This morning, she payed special attention to Foxie’s brow ridge during grooming.

Jody on the left, Foxie on the right.

Afterwards, she “cuddled” with a blanket and took a short nap.

Here she is, this afternoon, taking a peak out the raceway door (the area leading from the Greenhouse to the chimps’ 2 acre outdoor enclosure) before making a few trips outside to gather snowy treats.

Get to know more about Jody here.

She didn’t have a history in entertainment did she? I’m just wondering what has made her so camera-shy.

I think she’s certainly the most beautiful chimpanzee. She has the most symmetrical face, and with those huge eyes, who wouldn’t want her picture?? In fact, I think a year ago when I pulled Burrito’s pic off Instagram to paint it, I also found one of Jody smiling. That’s way before I got to know them, and it was her smile that caught my attention. I didn’t realise there were less photos of her than any of the others. I’ve been looking for a good one of them to paint for this year’s auction, so I may shoot Diana an e-mail and see if she has one that you guys love that would look great in coloured pencil. 🙂

    Thanks!
