I woke up thinking that I should feature Jody on the blog today. She’s a bit more elusive than some of the other chimpanzees, so we don’t get as many photos and videos of her.
She does have her routines, though.
Today, we spread a forage on the hill at lunch, and Jody, true to form, collected the food she wanted, came back inside, and emptied it on the deck while she sat on the lower part of the platform in the greenhouse.
Then, she spent some time relaxing – we often see her in this position:
She did a little self-grooming:
Graciously allowed me to take some close-up photos of her beautiful face:
Volunteer Lynn and I were talking about Jody’s very round eyes that often appear to be hopeful or excited about something:
She soon retired to the cooler playroom for a post-meal siesta:
does she have any friends that she tends to spend time with?
She does like her alone time, but Jody is friendly with everyone, for the most part. She and Burrito spend time together, though that may be more at Burrito’s instigating than Jody’s, particularly when she is ovulating. If there is grooming going on, Jody is often at the center of it. She doesn’t play as much as some of the other chimps, but she does play slow games of chase with all of the other chimps on occasion, which is a joy to see.
Love the pictures!
This is such uncanny timing! I just finished painting her today for your next auction. I LOVE these photos! Thank you for positing this Diana. Maybe we were vibing.
We were definitely in synch today! Yay, Cheryl!!!
Beautiful pictures
Love these close-up photos. She is really beautiful…makes me wish I were an artist too.
She’s so beautiful – seems to be such a gentle soul.
Jody is so very lovely to look at at. Yes, her eyes…. round, set close together, bright, sparking at something real or imagined. These photos are great, especially love photo 4. Jody always seems to have a little contented smile. Sigh…..
